Default ALERT!! NEW FEDERAL ATV REGS COMING!!

The Arctic Cat 2-up machine is based on their longer, dump box style chassis. Photos of it can be found here.

I guess I should clarify the "Passenger seat" deal. I'd never take a passenger on a regular sized quad on a trail that was anything other than flat anyway. Also, the Arctic Cat's we ride have a weight bias towards the FRONT. A passenger would merely balance it (and not even that, since the passenger is a kid). Basically, 2-up riding of any sort takes more skill, more attention, slower speeds and more common sense than riding alone. I jump my AC 400 when riding alone, and take it up to speed on occasion (which is rare). But with my kids on I rarely go over 5mph and sick to the level surfaces. In short, I use what's INSIDE my helmet when I ride.

But I hope u can see my point and why I have a problem
with your post... from your post, it states u are a pro rider.

When people like yourself post messages such as you have,
the average joe(like myself) could get the wrong impression
and think it may be safe for everyone... that's just not the
case...you're taking a higher risk even at the level of
driver and the caution you show, and maybe you can
handle it with no problem... but there are so many out
there that would get into trouble....on average, it is just
not a safe practice to get into..I've seen too many injuries
with either no helmet, two up riding, or irresponsible riding
for the conditions(from kids and adults)..

And I did go to the website u furnished.. the Arctic Cat TRV is
siimilar to the Bombardier and it has a a much longer wheelbase(stated
8 foot), which would make it safer... just like the Bombardier.. these
vehicles are specifically made for 2 up riding.

Again, from looking at your post, I don't see that your Arctic Cat is
a TRV, and I don't think you drive a Bombardier... I am assumming
it is the Arctic Cat 400 4x4 that you show on your posts..nuff said..

yes it is true that AC has a 2-up machine also. It is a fairly large machine and appears larger than the Bombardier. They are at the dealers and available to the public.

Personally I do like the Bombardier fit-and-finish better than the Cat. The cat has a 2 pc. seat where the Bomber has a single butt-pad to park your a$$ on.

All that means is that he has posted over 200+ messages. Im not saying that you don't have any skill Pechmial, just explaining the Forum software relation to post count.

No, really, I'm a pro rider...well...ok, it's more the post thing. Actually, I'm getting a raptor soon and am already scared to drive it (doesn't mean I won't, though).

irsonly, I can certainly see your point. And you're right, the AC's I own are NOT the extended chassis ones. That said, I don't have a problem giving an occasional slow ride to my kids. But I then ride them like I have precious cargo aboard (because I do.) I do NOT allow two kids on an atv and I actually "grounded" my 32 year old brother from giving my kids rides on his because I didn't think he was responsible enough. To rephrase what I said earlier, ANY 2-up ride requires extraordinary care (Call it SIPDE X 2) even if you're on a longer based quad (they're not any WIDER, ya know).

My goal is 1 machine per person, now if I could only convince my pocketbook of that!

the maths is simple enough, 40 % increase in quad numbers, 50% in ride time, 1.4 x 1.5 = 2.1

logic suggest that double the number of accidents could be expected.............. sad but true.

I agree whole heartely with others feelings re helmets and safety gear, a recent dune ride weekend and what do we see, old guys on DS650's whose entire safety equipment consisted of a pair of shorts, sunglasses and a hat: way cool right up to the point that one day they will need a helicopter medivac.............. dumbasses who them go one and blab "quads are dangerous" rather than the truth, "i'm a dumb ****"...................

I wonder how many people were injured or killed while crossing the street. Are they gonna ban crosswalks. How about bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, boats, cars, motorcycles, toys, wet floors, nail guns, planes, trains, electronics, etc.? Oh my gosh, while we're at it, we'd better ban lightning.

We'd better keep our eyes on things. If they can outlaw yard darts, then anything is subject

One thing they don't mention is that WV has the highest sales of ATV's in the nation. Our local Suzuki dealership is the biggest in the nation. More atv's = more deaths, injuries. They will end up regulating them cause it means too much $$ for a poor state govt.
