Here in Wisconsin the deaths are largely from people TOO YOUNG for the machine. Also two up riding is a big cause of deaths. Yes, some kids are getting big (as big as adults sometimes), but this DOES NOT mean its ok to let them ride a big machine. The are not mentally ready to accept the responsibility. If they were, then they would also be ready to drive. You want kids under 16 on the streets driving cars? I know I don't. You as parents (I am not one yet) need to realize this and explain this to your kids. As soon as you say its ok, that's when someone gets hurt and the kids aquire a disrespect for the law and their own safety. And consequently when you say it's ok and you're going to let them ride anyways, that's when all these laws and regulations come up. Surpise! You are the ones that are causing the rest of us these problems with the government and regulations that we have today. I'm not aiming this at all parents, but we all know who I'm talking about. They are out there. They may even be our friends. If we would all exercise some common sense and realize we are only hurting ourselves and our own children, maybe the laws and such wouldn't be so strict. Sorry but this is a touchy subject with me. It really bothers me when I see parents letting their younger son or daughter ride these huge adult machines. I don't feel sorry for any of them if someone gets hurt. It's only their own fault. When I do have children, I know for a fact they will only be riding apropriate sized machines.

hey, since atv deaths are such a high priority on their list, why not just ban driving cars while they are at it? im sure the number of accidents\deaths on atv's is a small fraction of those involving cars. car wrecks suck(my dad hit a tree 2 years ago and is parilyzed) if these are compared, im sure atv accidents should be put on the back burner compared to car wrecks.

I'm very sorry about your dad..
I do believe cars are a priority for us, atv's are not for most of us..
with that said, any time manufacturing legislation or operational
legislation is put in place to make it safer for everyone, I'm all for it.
I realize this is not always the case, and sometimes politicians can't
see the forest for the trees.... but for the most part I think they're
batting average is good concerning safety issues for consumers
and if any thing, they ought to be tighter on the manufacturers,
not more leniant...I'm all for building a better and safer mousetrap...
