Quietest polaris 400 pipe/silencer
#2
Thank God, someone FINALLY complaining about too much noise, instead of "what's the loudest pipe I can get !!! " Your best bet is the stock silencer, which will cut some of your performance, or to find an aftermarket with the 'quiet core' accessery. I know four strokes utility quads can get a 'stealth kit' that puts an additional muffler to cut noise by about 50 db, don't know about 2 stroke or sport quads. Check with the major manufacturers, like FMF,Supertrapp, etc. and see if they make one for you. Good luck, and thanks for wanting to keep the noise down.

I ran a HotSeat pipe on my Sport with the stock silencer and the one from Hotseat. The HotSeat silencer gave me more bottom, but the stock silencer gave me more top. I personally thought the pipe with the stock silencer was a darn good combo....

Yor best bet is going to be like a few of the others said, Use your stock silencer. That will tone things down considerably.
I own all three pipes AAEN , HSP GenIII, and HPD trail pipe
The AAEN pipe is louder than the HSP and the HPD. It is more TINGEE shall we say. I think it may be thiner material, .
I also have an AAEN silencer, HSP light aluminum silencer (Old Style), and an FMF turbine core II.
The AAEN silencer is loud, The HSP silencer is a bid better but not much.
The FMF turbine core II seems to be just right for me, I am told it is a bit more restrictive that the HPD but everyone that own it seems to like it.
You will notice some power loss if you go with your stock silencer but its not bad.
I currenly run my 99 400 with a Hot Seat pipe and the Turbine core II, and my wifes 2000 with the HPD (NICKLE) trail pipe with the stock factory silencer.
I also keep my extra stock silencer on hand for when I want or need to quite down the 99 a bit more.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Even with a stock silencer you are not going to remove the ting ting sound of the Aaen pipe. You are going to have to put the kevlar bands on the expansion part of the pipe to quiten it down. Even with the straight through DG silencer I have on my trail bike it is not loud coming out the exhaust. It is the expansion part of the pipe making the noise. You could also use a little bit of header wrap to make it quieter. It's just the design of the pipe. Other than that I like the pipe OK. Bubba

LOL Bubba... Yes the Aaen pipe is known for it's tingy sound. The pipe is pretty thin and like the other's said without wrap or clamps, you will have to learn to live with it or sell it.
