Default Multi-mount or not??

Hello Folks-

Here is the dilema. I have an '02 SP700 with front and rear tube bumpers. I have never had a winch on a wheeler and am having a hard time deciding on a multi-mount or not. Those of you that have a multi-mount, do you often switch ends? Those of you without ever wish you had one? I would like to keep the bumbers and not have to do a lot of re-fabbing.

I also notice that the Warn Multimount only comes on the 2.5 ci.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks,

SpruceDeuce

Default Multi-mount or not??

I just have the 2000 front winch on my 500SP, wish I had the multi. I have been stuck 30 feet from the in and 200 feet from the out, by myself. Needless to say I wish I could have just moved it, but with 3 tow straps and my truck I got it out.

I agree upnort. I too have the 2000#warn I dont know why or cant see why they dont make the multi mount for the 2000. From pictures the 2500 and the 2000 look the same. Plus I would rather carry the xtra weight in the rear of the machine while trail riding.

This is just a thought, but you can't put a Polaris multi-mount system on the 700 or 600 for that fact. When Polaris went to the mounting position in the upper grill between the headlights, they eliminated the possibility of putting a multi-mount on it. Now it will still work on the 500. The first thing I would do is get rid of the 2000 pound winch. With the increased weight of the bikes (600/700) I think that you need to go with at least the new 2.5 or even the 3.0. Just my opinion though. Anyway I guess a 2000 pound would be o.k. since all you will use it for is pulling out your buddies with the other brand bikes. Ha, Ha.

I guess they do make them. I thought it was impossible to put on since they tucked way up in there. Guess I was wrong. One thing you could do is mount a piece of 'c' channel underneath the bike from front to back and run your winch cable inside it underneath the bike to pull from behind. We used to do this on trucks somethimes, but it is a little harder on the cable because there is extreme downward pressure on the roller fairlead, but I guess it isn't any different than using your winch to pull up a snow blade.

I found the 3.0ci at ATVPARTSDEPOT.COM for 385.99. That is an awesome price, I guess I will have to sacrafice the multi-mount for a price like that.

Thanks for all the info.

BTW, the warn sight has a picture of the 700 with the multi-mount on the front. Pic Here
But I really don't want to give up my front bumper. Rubbin' son is racin'!!!
