Default 400 sport vs. 400 trailblazer

Just wondering how similar or how different these 2 machines are....I have a 1999 Sport 400L and wondered if a 400 trailblazer was worth a look.

It is pretty much the same motor. The 03's have alot of small upgrades. Greasless fittings, steel braided brake lines, different brake resivoir, better tires, spliceless belt,HMM and a few other things I cant remember. The new ones look pretty cool.

There is hardly a difference. Plastic color, different tires, different choke cable, ignition starting, and steel braided lines on the brakes and I think that's it. For what you paid for that machine I would certainly keep it. Time to mod it some!!!!!

I own a 99 and a 2000
There are few upgrades that in my opinion are very valuable and worth mentioning.
1. In 2000 model year gen3(Scramblers) machines got 2" more Suspension travel (10.5" vs 8.2")
The longer rear fox shock actually has a 2 stage spring witch gives a very nice ride. The rear swing arm is also a little different, I know the lower shock mount is in a different location. Some say this made little difference but Stock VS Stock I would take the smoother ride of my 2000 any day. I am sure this is nothing that a Hot Seat spring set or Works Suspension wouldn't take care of, but????????

2. As mentioned before Model 2001 got a brake upgrade.
The Brake upgrade included a better master cylinder, all steel braided brake lines, Drilled and Slotted rotors and updated brake pads for longer life. The Steel braided lines and new Master really gave the brakes a nicer feel in comparison

3. Lastly In 2002 model (Some late 01) got a Steering upgrade.
The steering upgrade includes a bigger thicker steering shaft and a Sealed bearing as a lower steering shaft support. Also in 2001 the Tie rod end received a better design update. The lower steering shaft and Tie rods are a popular wear item on older polaris machines. The new lower bearing really seemed to give the steering a nicer feel, it is easier to turn and No slop. The new hiem style tie rods can easily be installed as an upgrade (if they have not already) and HPD,RCR, and HSP make a brass bushing lower steering post support that will take the slake out(Again if not already done).

Hope this helps

Thank you Buba, I forgot about the steering shaft and lower bearing, but like you said the lower aftermarket for the 99 model will cure all those problems. For what he paid ($2K), he cant go wrong.

Thanks everyone!
I dont want you all to think i was going to trade or sell my 99 to get an 03...I was actually thinking about in addition to..I really like my 99 sport, and I'm sure some mods are on the way...for what I paid for it, I'm sure I'll hang on to it for awhile.
Thanks again..
