I was looking into buying an sp 600 , a 2003 model. do any of you guys know if there is any problems with them? like the chrome plated rims flaking off......maybe they fixed that......also what kind of prices are you paying for yours...i was thinking around 6100$ at most......how much more power than the sp500? well thats it.

I've only heard of one problem and that was today on another board where someone had the batter light come on. I used to have a '98 500 and in low gear I can't really tell a difference in power. I mean when climbing over rocks and such the 500 always had plenty to spare so I don't really feel the difference, I know it there but I just can't feel it. I can tell a differnce in the midrange as it seems to have a little more pep to it. Not sure about the highend as I'm still breaking it in and I very rarely go above 25 mph anyway. As for prices, the dealer here is selling '03 600's for $5,799 OTD. PolarisofChattanooga

I just brought a new (03) 600 home and have been very pleased, this weekend I had it pulling a two place 10' steel snowmobile trailer loaded with wood - no problem. I think your in the ball park with price depending on the supply and how many dealers are in your area.

Polarisman3,
I would have to agree with the others in that the 600 Twin is quite the machine. I ordered mine from the Hitching Post out of St. Paul and have had no problems with it at all. I live in the Southwest and it gets really sandy out here along with big rocks and NO PROBLEMS at all. I love it and would recommend it in an instant.

They were blowing them out in the fall for $5399.99
I'd agree, my 600 is excellent through everything. Its fast and very comfortable really hauls a$$ in the mud. I only wish it was a V motor instead of a parallel twin.

Went on my first real ride Sat. on the new sp 600, and rode about 42 miles, I'm anxious to go to the gas station and fill it back up to check the gas mileage, and it performed flawlessly except for a couple of times while sitting idleing for a couple of minutes it went dead, but it started right back up, probably just needs idleing up a little, or will get better as it breaks in. Other than that, it went through mud, creeks, rocks, and up and down steep hills perfect. I even let some of my Honda buddies ride it and I had to make them get off of it. They went on and on about the ride and the power. Of course I had to ride their atv's while they rode mine over the rocks and I won't even comment on the ride, of theirs, compared to mine. I'll just say that in honesty the honda's were mid ninties, 300's, and I'm sure that the newer ones ride a little better, or at least I hope so.
