#1
Well i just bought an '03 sp 600 today and when your stopped and you want to go ahead in high gear it moves some then CLUNKS or SNAPS loudly, you can hear it quite aways away....just wondering if this is normal? it dosent do this in any other gear.....now i only have 4 miles on it....does it just need to break in??????? Is there any fix for this problem cus it is very very annoying!.....any fix out there?

My 04 700 does the same thing every time I start to move foward. I've been told it is normal and they all do it and it is nothing to worry about. Was told it is the slack in the driveline being taken up.

My 700 does that, it is normal, everyone I test drove, 600 and 700 made the clunk noise. After you get the feel of it you can keep it from doing it, let it hook up before getting on the gas hard and you will hardly notice it.

well it sounds like everone else says theirs does it so it must not be a problem...but you would think the slack would keep getting worse after awile of clucking in like that? I got mine in green....

It is the rollers in the rear clutch hitting the helix. Since it is steel-on-steel, and takes place inside the clutch cover (which acts like a big megaphone, amplifying the noise) it really isn't as bad a clunk as it sounds like.
And, no, it won't get worse for a LOOOONNNG time. The rollers are hardened steel, as is the helix. Just like tapping a hammer with an anvil. It sounds like it is banging something, but will take an awful lot before it breaks anything.
