Default Oiling Uni air filter?

I just got a Uni air filter and was wondering if anyone could help me with the best way to oil it. The inner filter is attached to a metal frame so I can't ring out the extra oil like I used to with my dirt bike. Also, how do you get the oil applied even over the whole thing? Thanks.

The inner foam filter wrapped around the mesh on the UNI I used to use was removable from the mesh. It was slit around the middle of the center of the filter running horizontally with the mesh. Mine just folded up on both sides and slid out of the mesh. I think UNI recommends not ringing out their filter as it can tear the glues up that hold it together, I think instead you are suppose to lay it flat and press out any excess oil. If that filter was anything like mine, this should help you.

Default Oiling Uni air filter?

The inner foam is attached to the metal screen on my UNI. I can't find any slit in it to get it off. What would be the best way to get oil applied evenly and remove the excess? When I squeez it, all the oil just goes to the inside. Has anyone tried spray on oil?

Well, it must be different than mine was, sorry about that. I use PJ1 spray on oil and it works great even on the inside of the filter, it has a good fan pattern so it is easy to get where you want it to go. I haven't always removed the inside filter, so yes I have done it this way and it works good. I also use PJ1 cleaner spray which also workls good at getting the filter clean.
