Default 2000 Polaris Magnum 500 rear monoshock problem

Hey everyone!!

So this is my problem!! Went to adjust the rear spring, and broke the camber!! Do I dare attempt to remove the shock/spring assembly without compressing the spring? Not sure if i trust my hands in there with this!! Lol any help would be appreciated!! Just bought this machine, and supposed to have a first ride on trails Saturday, now I need to try and get this figured out before then!! Lol thanks in advance!!

Definitely want to compress that spring before taking it off.

Most shops have the spring compressor and can change this out for you. Be sure anytime you adjust the collar to jack the machine up to take the weight off. Don't use channel locks or vice grips or you can break the new one. If you don't have the spanner wrench in the tool kit,you can find them on ebay or amazon. Item#11.

Nevermind my last post!! I used a ratchet strap and compressed the spring just enough to get the cam out. Hopefully a dealer around here will have a new one in stock!

Most cycle/atv shops can change this out in a couple minutes if they have this good spring compressor. It saved me a lot of time and frustration.
