Is there a better brand for topend gasket kits? I have seen Athena, Winderosa, Tusk, and topendgaskets. All average price, Athena a little more. Hoping to get a list of parts/prices together soon. Also wanted to get a block off kit for the oil pump from Rick.

So i think i am ready to pull, remove pull start, flywheel, and stator. Disconnect last mount bolt, and pump cable. Is there anything else?

Ok, so apparently you actually cannot leave the stator behind. The grommet is between the cover and case half. So I just pulled the wire out, added 5 min. not a big deal. Tomorrow it is game on! Ready for the hybrid conversion- wait what?
What a beast... a dirty one for sure.

Sorry. Had the Xplorer 250/300 on the brain. If you removed the third cover and w/p you could but more of a hassle that way.Easier to disconnect the wiring and pull as a unit as you've done.

It is all apart and cleaned. The shop that is boring my cylinder also welds cases, so that should take care of the little crack. Could be much worse!

U got a mess.. Down this far make sure on the rod. Not a good feeling to have it fail as you'd have parts all over the bench again.I've installed customer supplied Bronco and Wsm rod kits that are cheaper then oem or Hot Rod kits with no problems.https://www.ebay.com/itm/WSM-Polaris...dV1axU&vxp=mtr

How do you mean a mess? I thought it wasn't too bad considering what could've happened. Yeah I have heard/read that the lower rod bearings are sturdy but may as well service it while it is out. Wrist pin bearing was shot, so maybe that is an indication of what lies ahead for the lower. Do you have to replace the rod or can you just get a bearing kit?
