Default Lakota or 250EX

OK I bet some of you are wondering why I've been posting about all different quads....truth is money to blow on a bigger fourwheeler like a 300ex or warrior....just isnt around.
ehem,
anyways my cousin has a 250ex and I have a good amount of seat time on it. I really like it, I think its cool and I can wheelie it sweet. Now I can get a good deal on a brand new Lakota but I am reading things that make it sound like it doesnt wanna go right off of idle or have the snap of the bat. I think the 250ex handle pretty damn good and i here the same about the Lakota is this so?
also can you wheelie the Lakota like in first gear?
I do alot of trail riding and wet/mud conditions what would be better?
I have a lot of riding experiance
thanks alot any help is appreciated

My experience with the lakota is that the dont have the snap off the bat but they get going pretty good and will outrun a 250EX but not by much. THe lakota has a really heavy front end so wheelies are kind of hard. I could go on and on but the 250 will come out on top I think.

You should consider looking at a Z250. I have ridden a Lakota and the Z is by far a lot better. I haven't ridden a 250EX but I have heard from just about everybody that they like the Z250 better. It is a little bit better at everything. If you're not at all interested at all in the Z250 then go with the 250EX.
I didn't really like the Lakota. It seemed heavy (but i'm a light rider), tippy going around high speed turns, and the front end is heavy so its hard to get the front end up for wheelies. Also the power wasn't that great.
I love my Z250 and if you have a true severe need for speed then go with the Z250. It is the faster than both.

go with the 250ex. They are bullet proof bikes, fast ( i got mine up to 56) and very front end light. I think it has much more potential than a z-250 cause more aftermarket companies are after it and if you ever need more power there are pipes, jet kits, air filters, bore kits and the list gos on and on. Mine was so fun I wish i never sold it.

There are already aftermarket parts for the Z250. I agree, there are alot of parts for the 250EX, but many companies are already working on things for the Z. Yoshimura and DG already sell pipes for it. And Suzuki has their line of accessories too.

suzukiz250kid that is not true i beat a z250 with my 250ex both when they were stock. and i beat it by a good 4 -5 bike lengths. maybe the drag strip you were racing on was too short???? because ours was a 1/2 mile long and i smoked him

Dilly, like I said I haven't been on a 250EX and I have never drag raced against one, but if you read any review on the Z250 it will say that it is about 3 mph faster than a 250EX. The Z tops out at 54 and the EX at 51. When you dragged were you lighter or maybe more experianced than the other guy?????? Weight can make a big difference.

look, i got my issue of atv rider and the z250 is .1 mph faster that ain't no bragging rights, any way i would get the 250ex over the lakota, the lakota is a little faster, but it's $200 more with that you could almost get an exhaust and the the top speed is close and the lakota is hard as hell to wheelie in 1st gear and the 250ex is simple, but what you should look at is a mojave.

I love my 250 EX, especially for trail riding.....I bought a KFX 400 and I HATE it in the trails I usually FLY through with the 250EX. The handling on that 250 is awesome, with plenty of power in trails..especially tight ones around my neck of the woods. I'd look at the Suzuki Z250 also, but with it being new there will be some problems that will surface (like the frame cracking on the Z400) who knows maybe not. You do know that the Honda 250EX is good quality, fun to ride, and just an all-a-round good atv. Good luck!

THe 250EX is cool for a 250cc(229) bike. They do about 51-52 stock. They are more agile, nimbler than the Lakota. Performance, from expirience the EX is probably best in most categories. Dont always believe what the mags tell you. Along time ago when a magazine tetsed the V FOrce 700 they said it was .2 secs faster than a Raptor. Now a couple months later they say it gets beat by a DS650 by 5-6 quads. Thats BS! The 250EX is the better machine in my opinion, but everyone has their opinion. Youll hear all the time I own a 250EX and spanked my friends Lakota, and vice versa. Best bet is to test drive them first and dont trust everything you hear. Look at the Z250 it will smoke both of these machines. Hope this helps.
