The 400ex should stomp the blaster. The 400ex has so much bottom end it would be to far ahead for the blaster to catch up even if the blaster was faster

I hate to say it, but from personal experience and switching riders from time to time. A modded blaster will out run a piped 400 EX. My blaster is bored, ported, carbed, piped etc. etc. And runs very close to my KFX 400. Do not underestimate a blaster. With the time and money it can be made to be very wild. I have yet to race it against my 450 but, it should be interesting as well as fun.

This is true, but it is possible, I've done it SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY BLASTER.

id love to mod my blaster to make it as fast as a 400ex or even a 250R but is it even worth putting all that money into it?? or just get a whole new quad altogether??

depneds how much you love your blaster. If you just love the way it rides then make it faster. If you think you would be happy on a new bike than I would say sell it buy something with more power.

It will be very expensive but is possible, I spent about $1500.00 in the motor and another 500 or so on the tires, suspension etc. If you factor in the cost of the blaster that is over 5000.00 which means I could've purchased a used 250R with better suspension or new Z400 in that price range.

Having done this, I would advise against it because you will never recover the amount spent on the blaster. If you don't plan on selling it and plan to keep it forever like I will mine then do it.

Total Cost of building a blaster to run with a 250R and smoke a 400EX $5500.00. (not recommended)

The look you get from a 400ex owner just getting smoked by a blaster PRICELESS!!!! (highly recommended)

I have to disagree. You are comparing a used and modified Blaster to a brand new 400EX. If you purchased a slightly used 400EX and did the same mods it would cost the same and the 400ex would be faster. Its that same old story as the small block vs. big block. Yeah, a small block can be built to beat some big blocks, but everything you can do to a 350 you can also do to the 454 and the 454 will end up making more than enough power to overcome the weight disadvantage.

2001 400EX for approx 3000 dollars with another 2500 in mods will smoke the 5500 dollar blaster.

There's no replacement for displacement.
