BTW, I am not brand loyal trying too defend a YFZ. My opinion of Yamaha is YAHAHA SUCKS and does not care about their customers or the reliability of their equipment.

Been there and done that. I have owned several 250r's over the years....their reliability was no better than the others....well except my 01 Raptor....I would not wish it on my worst enemy. I have witnessed Honda utility atv's as being virtually bulletproof though. This thread does not concern reliability though.

 

1- My R is pritty much set up for anything. i can take it out on a trail ride or I can go pit riding or i can tie it down with some paddles and go racing.

2- Im not positive to weather or not a piped yfz would go that fast, but my hypothiese is that it wont.

3- There are piped, jetted, geared, filtered, hi compression piston, raptors where i race( yes including being tied down and having paddles) but none of them go under 5.8. I would think they would but they dont. mabey the drivers arnt that great? not sure whats up there.

4- and yes iv notcied that you are not brand loyal to any brand. Me? I like honda AND yamaha, and somewhat suzuki.

 

1..ok as long as do do agree that slamming your bike and adding paddles improved your ET through 300'.....but out trail riding there in Maine you will not be as quick....so John on his YFZ in trail riding form may be quicker, while you in race trim may be quicker. Either way I think it's decieving too not post the details....and details make a big difference when discussing 5-6 seconds of dragging. 2...thats cool..we all have opinions. 3....not much I can say there....tracks vary greatly...I have seen completely stock Raptors with paddles and tied down in front run 5.5's with a light rider....but who knows what he would run in Maine?? 4...who cares about brand loyalty...we should ride what we want and can afford. It's all about enjoying the sport anyway. It's been fun discussing back and forth without childish behavior. Later bud.

 

I'm not big on Yamahas but where I race we have several Raptors running mid to low 5's. We have one that is running a constant 4.85 to 4.9 every pass. One rider weights around 300lbs and runs 5.9 all day long.

I usely don't have a problem with Raptors with my Ex.
