I always enjoyed snowmobiling more than ATV'ing. But now that I've driven my friend's fourwheeler (400ex and a Warrior at one time), I can pull wheelies and love quads. I can wheelie on my Mach 1, but it's not as easy. Here's a pic:

I have a 99 Mach 1, (700 triple) and I love riding it. Problem is, I live in WI and we havent gotten good snow for a couple years,
but hoping this year will be different.
I also enjoy snowmobiling more than ATVing, lets face it, they are faster!!!

I love riding quads, but pretty much my favorite thing to do is snowmobile. They are so much faster than quads, and when you ride it's a whole lot more scenic.
Anyway, the 800's are just bored out versions of smaller engines. The MXZ 800 engine is the exact same engine as the 600, they just bored the cylinder out. You think that the difference would be night and day, but it's not. My dad's best friend has an 02 MXZ 800, of course the acceleration is better on the 800, but the top end is really not all that much more. When we were riding in the UP, we were racing on Lake Gogebic, and i was behind quite a ways, but my dad and his friend were real close to each other. I do like how the Indy 500 is light, and you can throw it around more but the power really isn't all that good. I was topped out on the lake at 95mph.
If it were me, I would get the 600. It's barely slower than the 800, and costs a whole lot less

How much do you think I can get my 583 up to? I'm hoping it can get over 100 MPH. I'm not sure if it's stock though. It looks like I have a special pipe for more horsepower. Oh and what would be the maximum horsepower my Mach 1 gives off?
Another question: What could I buy for my sled to increase it's power?

You'll be lucky if you can get it over 100, I tried looking up the 89 Mach 1's maximum horsepower but couldn't find anything.
You could buy a racing clutch kit, you could buy aftermarket exhaust pipes. I personally don't know of that many things to increase a sleds power, sorry. I'm sure there's someone on this forum that does though.

I agree with Jed, lots of upgrades. Also a stock performance sled is incredible. I dont even compare mine to my quad considering most stock performance snowmobiles easily go over 100mph.

But what parts can I add to my Mach 1 to increase it's performance?

1989 Formula Mach 1 583 (twin cylinder, twin carbs, liquid cooled
I raced my neighbors 97 583 mxz about 6 times and everytime i beat him by about 1 sled length. And my sled is bone stock. I think its the freak of the litter.
