Top speeds governed??

actually yahmaha has the 1000 acrtic cat dropped it and backed off to a 900 but still way more motor than anyone really needs, they have regulated the sleds some. I have a 78 eltigre 440L/C that is all stock except for the clutch and it will do 90 on a lake like nothing, and have plenty of throttle to go, you wont find a new 440 that will do that not stock anyway

Can a 440 L/c MXZ do that?
My dad's got a 1980 "9500 Blizzard" (440cc) and it's liquid cooled. It's in very bad shape now but he told me it can really go. I've had the speedometre up to 80MPH but like I said, it's in bad shape. The exhaust pipe is cracked, the carbs need tuning, the air breather is dirty, the Track is worn right out, etc. I must have been going 60 and not 80 because the track was spinning because it's "bald". The 9500 Blizzard makes the coolest revving noises I've ever heard. Anyone here want a video of me on it?
This is the thing about it; once you get going, the engine will run fine. When you take off, it's hard because of the cracks in the exhaust pipe, the CO2 goes into the air breather and it will not burn the gas and there is little power. The problem is prevented if I lift the hood up on take off. You will notice if I send anyone the video that I try to attempt a donut, I've got nice power but the power dies as I spin around.

I would think that blizzard should be able to do close, if it were in good shape like my old beast. the newer sleds i guess if you have a 600 that can hit 105 your doing good

The Blizzard I have (well it's my dad's, but on message boards and the internet and to everyone I say it's mine lol) has dual exhaust pipes. It's Tuned exhaust I hear. The 9500 Blizzard pushes out 95 Horse power I believe (thus the "9500"). Even if it was running properly, it apparently is slow on take off because the clutch is geared for top end. Think of the Blizzard as the 450r of sleds back in the 80's. I guess you could say it was tuned for racing. Maybe about 20 years ago, my dad raced it across a river up around here and won. There he was with his stock 9500 Blizzard and he didn't have any of the "SkiDoo" clothing. Just a regular coat and regular snow pants. I guess all the usual sleds for the time showed up. Citations, Elans, Olympiques, etc (I can't think of any other models from around that time except the ones from Skidoo). Maybe some Futura's coulda been there. One guy from the city showed up, brand new skidoo coat, snowpants, everything. He unloads his studded "7500 Blizzard". My dad figured he'd lose because the guy's got a studded 7500 Blizzard.
**new paragraph to make reading this easier**
Anyways, they take off. My dad hit the gas and he sat there spinning for a bit. The guy with the 7500 took off. My dad finally got going and he was 1/2 across the river when the guy was 3/4 of the way there. Just near the end my dad passed the studded 7500 Blizzard and claimed the victory!
Stories like these make me wish I were around for that. Now all the sleds are frigin huge 800's and all that.
edit: The races were one on one
