Can Sports quads handle mountain trails.
#11
I live in the mountains and we have some rough and tumble trails around here. of all the atvs there are i ride a blaster through it all lol. so its possible to get a sport quad through mountainous trails as long as you know what your doing, ive ridden utilities all my life up until i got my blaster last year, so i know that NO sport quad is as good as any utility in rough, rutted trails. but the V-force id amagine wouldnt do too bad. another good choice is one of the polaris Scrambler 4x4's. not the lightest, but niether is a v-force iether.in the end it comes down to skill and what you like...

I agree with chad400ex. You can go just about anywhere the 4x4 utes can, but get
a good skidplate. In my experience in the rocky trails, its a must. The sport quads
WILL bottom out.
Also, with quads with a clutch, it makes the slow going trails more of a challenge.
All things considered, mud is probably the only thing that can pose a problem. Just
be sure to have some buddies along that can pull you out!!

not to brag bout my realitvly slow machine, but my wolverine is great for all the things you want. its good cus it doesnt do anything bad (except powerslide, but that i fixed with the Warn 424 unlocker). after some slight mods to wake it up, its a knarly little machine!

the other good thing about the V is that you will not have to worry about what gear your in because you will ALWAYS be in the best gear. As far as can a sport quad make it through rough and rutted stuff my answer woudl be yes because MOST of the time the trailbalzer can hang with the magnum...the only part it doesnt is mud... but it does alright in that too

I have to plug the DS650 here guys. I live in N. Nevada and I ride in desert and alot of Mt. and forest trails, fire roads. I had a Sportsman 700 and it was ok but too heavy in the sand. On fire roads nothing beats the DS. I am in the process of putting on skid plates though as the ruts and downed trees do take their toll. The DS will take you places others can't!
