LTZ, i just bought myself a predator, ya know why? cuz i got reccomendations from owners of predators yes, but also yamaha riders themselves, as well as the local suzuki/polaris/kawasaki dealer, and you might not believe this, but also the local yamaha/ds/honda dealer as well. i dont wanna get into a fight, but this is jsut facts from my experience.

I'm aware of which forum we're in. The thread was "Raptor vs Z400". and you replied about your POS Predaterd. The Z does very well against a Raptor, no it doesn't beat it and neither does the Predator. You may have raced against a Z but you obviously have never ridden one, and yes, I have ridden a Predator and was not that impressed.

and where is it faster than a Raptor? In a straight drag, maybe thru 3rd gear but that's it. The Z stays with a Raptor thru 3rd also, and then the cc's take over. At the track? 90 % rider.

Yeah I have ridden a Z a kid at my school has oen and it's not even comparable to a Predator...it compares to a Polaris Scrambler...I would rather race a scrambler for mx then a Z. I don't know where you get your info but I want you to look at this...go to Nicholas Cycle and find the results on there from Monkey Butt the bigest drag race in the midwest and check out the results...

rcnitrofreek, i apologize for the previous flaming. the truth is that the z is a great machine. as is the raptor and predator.
here is a post i made about the kfx and raptor:
I love my raptor, but i also hold a lot of respect for the kfx/ltz twins. They are pretty powerful machines and are very easy to handle and throw around. The bomb is the fastest quad, but is tailored to more of a dune riding crowd with it large size. Raptors are pretty cheap now with the introduction of the yfz450 and the trx450r so it might be close on price b/w a rappy and a kfx. Both are liquid cooled, 5 speeds with reverse. They come with the same tires and are both very good at taking modifications. Its a tough choice.
IMO, the very small concession made in the handling department is outweighed by the very noticable increase in power in choosing a raptor over a kfx/ltz. If you plan on mx then i would definately say the kfx. but if you plan on recreational riding in the woods and sand dunes, i would reccommend the raptor. either way you will have a great machine that will be a joy to ride for years and years. Good luck on your purchase.
That said, the polaris is a good machine as well. it has the advantage of being in between the raptor and kfx/ltz in terms of size and power. when stock, a raptor will typically beat a polaris will typically beat a kfx/ltz 400. if you have the opportunity to test ride these machines, then do so. Sitting down and riding around on a quad for 5 minutes will mean much more to you because ergonomics and the way you feel on the quad is much more important than a few horsepower.

Ok, I have respect for all these fourwheelers, and a lot of people are right and a lot wrong. Both are good, however the raptor in my oppinion is overwelmingly dominant in the speed and acceleration category. no one will be able to convince me otherwise. My friend has the suzuki and i can beat him on my 400ex, and i know i can be beat by a raptor, by someone good at shifting and starting because that makes a big difference. However I would tell you to not bother and hit up the new honda, dirtwheeler said its the nicest theyve ever ridden since the legendary 250r! so take a look, its faster than a yfz with the best suspension theyve ever had and its quick and an awesome all terrain machine. So check it out, by the way the predator is a good fourwheeler, i would lay that in raptor category, but it isn't so popular for some reason, probably because lately polaris hadn't been putting much toward performance until now

well first of i'd go with the Z...second the raptor is over rated, third you people talking about the predators are on something. predators SUCK, sorry to say it but my bud is a die hard polaris fan and my DVX has alot better acceleration and higher top speed. i topped out my DVX riding next to my other friends car and we were going 75-80...the predator stopped at 65-70...do i need to say more?
