sport quad for a fat a**!

Well at least the people that own the quad that they recommend are happy with their choice. I am a big guy, 6'2" 240 lbs. I know others that are big would fit well on it. I rode the DS also but I did not like it for mountain trails. It is a blast in the dunes though!

I'm as guilty as anyone about recommending what I'm riding. It's mostly because when I'm reading along I and I see a situation where I know my quad would fit, I'll recommend it. Otherwise I just read on.
In this case it's appropriate because the DS and V are really the only sport quads that can handle the BIG guys. The V was introduced the day after I bought my DS. It kinda fried me, thinking that I only had the biggest and baddest quad for a day (a Raptor is not bigger than a DS, despite being a 660-- let the war begin!!) but I couldn't afford a new one anyway.

Who better to recommend a quad than an owner of the same quad. If you are not an owner of the quad in question, or have not rode it much, you can only give an uneducated suggestion that it will fit their needs.

have you considered a banshee at all?
ive seen lots of big guys riding thoughs..although the rear shock may needed ot be stiffened up a bit, but it should still have plenty of power

i would not reccomend the predator. i admit i don't own one, and i've never ridden one, but lookin at hp numbers, power-to-weight ratios, and the multitude of problems that most predator owners encounter, i would not reccomend it. especially for a bigger guy. however, the other side of the argument is that jus cuz it wont work on paper, don't mean that it won't work. i.e. mathematically a 2-stroke motor will not work, but how then does the banshee hit 73 mph, when it doesn't work?

Whats wrong with a banshee at 340? At the end of last race season, I weighed 338lbs. I flattrack on a banshee, trail ride a banshee, have one banshee that is somewhat set up for MX, and am building a drag bike. Of all of the bikes I have ridden (almost every bike built except for a DS), the banshee fits be the best. I have realized that my weight was keeping me from being as competetive in my sports, so I am now on a diet. I am down to 285.
As was said, most people will pick what is in their sig, however, I am a big boy like you and from experience have found the banshee to be the best for me.
Also, on a banshee you don't hear about the frames breaking, swingarms cracking, trannies tearing up, etc that you hear about with a lot of the other bikes mentioned. All of the problems with the other bikes happen even with 180lb riders. I am afraid of chancing it with my size.
