rim vs ride height
Hi all,
I'm hoping this hasn't been asked as I couldn't find it on the forum anywhere....
I ride a race-modded banshee and was wondering if rim size changes the height of the ride? The Banshee comes stock with 9" rims. What would the advantages/disadvantages using a 10" rim? Would the 9" rim be a better all-rounder?
The type of riding I do is a bit of everything. Flattrack, dunes, enduro, jumps (but nothing massive).
Cheers for any info.

The only thing that will effect your ride hieght is the tire, not the rim. You wont be able to tell a diffrence with the 9 inch between the 10 inch rim, but the over all tire and wheel would weigh less (if its the same tire, and hieght) with the 10 inch rim (if its aluminum) then the 9 inch rim but not by much.

rim vs ride height
The only problem is that with a 10 wheel and a 18 or 20 inch tire, you have to keep it pumped high or else you will flatspot the rims.
I had 18-10 rear and they cornered good on the street but off road I could not get any traction because the pressure was too high, even then I still ruined the rims.
Personally I run 8" rims in the rear on 18" tires. It is light, gives you a nice cushy ride and if I want more traction I could drop the pressure down to 3 psi and still not bend a rim.
By the way a 20 inch aluminum wheels with a 20 or 18 inch tire weights more than the same size tire with a smaller rim. The reason is that the lower profile tire has a much stiffer sidewall to prevent rim damage, this causes them to weight alot more.
These are the reasons MX racers mostly use 18 on 8 inch rears.
