Default Surprized by Predator

I was looking at adding a predator to my stable of quads but was totally surprized by my experiences this weekend...talk about timing. Also, this is not trashing the Polaris quad...its not about my quad being better or me being a great rider...I am not...this is just sharing my encounters and information I picked up this weekend and sharing it with forum members and getting REASONABLE feedback.

First experience: Was at the races this weekend and come upon an outfit that were racing a dale, KFX 400, couple of TRX 450r's and amongst these machines was a predator for sale. Asked the person there if they were selling it and "yes" was their reply. I asked if it was fast..."very" they said..."have had it up the steepest sand hills other quads turned out of and the pred pulled it in third ... very strong", was their reply. So i asked why they were racing the other quads and selling the pred...their response was that it is extremely quick and fast but not able to stand up to abuse like the other quads in their stable. Said after riding it hard on a track or in an area that provides alot of air time you will be spending time working on the quad. This dissappointed me a bit as I thought they built it as a race quad.

Second experience: Was at the track (i take my son their riding ... he rides a CR 85 and getting pretty good at it). Guy pulls up with a predator and we begin talking...he states he has been riding quads for some time on tracks and likes the predator...believed it was a step up from his 250r...now me riding sports quads for just under a year (utility quad for a year before that...extent of my atv experience) I am a little timid to get on the track with this guy...but i do. To my surprize the KFX 400 seems alot more nimble and responsive on the track...flew higher (I know not necessarily a good thing...but looks kewl), seemed to corner better, and just seemed to take the track far better with a less experience rider the the pred with an experienced rider. Fact is I let off on the KFX a few times coming around as I didnt want to pass the guy and seem like I was egging things on. Now this was not a large open motorcross track...it was tight with doubles and you were either cornering, jumping, or hitting whoops on every inch of this track...very limited areas for just flat out opening her up ... fact is I never come out of second or third gear...so maybe that had something to do with it. But looking at the preds suspension i thought it would be all over the KFX (mods in signature...no suspension mods YET)

I know Predator owners will not take to kindly to this...if you care to comment please do...just understand I am not flaming the quad...just had a weekend that was totally contradictory to alot of the research i had done. If anyone has insight or feedback on this machine ... or comment on the information i picked up please comment...just talkign quads...New pred looks good doesnt it. Input would be appreciated...good quading to ya.

ok, first off I am going to try to stay calm here. First off...nothing on the pred should be breaking on the track, the frame does break every once in a while, but an easy fix. It will take any jump you can give it. As for your second experience, you must be a better driver, because nothing is better in the corners than a pred and you shouldn't have been beating him either.

BradRacer18, I apologize for the statement. I had you and another forum member mixed up. It was my mistake and I am sorry.

The only experience I have with Predators is drag racing with them. All I can say about them is I can trade victories all day long with a KFX400 but I can't come close to beating a Predator.............
