Banshee VS. DS650
#44
seems to me like the person that posted has already decided what he wants before he even posted the question, look at the quad he uses for his pic. i like the fact that you can run the ds for a couple of years with no big maintanance issues but with most two strokes evry year you have to tear into them. now that i've poked at the hornets nest i'll shut up.

My brother in-law has a modded Banshee and it is fun to ride with out a doubt, crazy out of control type of ride
He would much rather ride my DS in the trails. (The suspension on the DS is a lot better)
His Banshee is faster on pavement (2 to 3 quad lengths) but on ruff terrain he can’t touch my DS.
The mileage on the Banshee sucks, Limits his riding range (We ride together a lot and He uses twice as much gas as I do)
Cost to operate
Parts for The Banshee are a lot cheaper
Spark Plugs
Banshee – New set every 4 or 5 rides 20 hours
DS – once every 75 to 100 hours
Gas
Banshee - $10.00 quart of oil for every 10 gallons of gas
DS – Just fill it up at the pump
Engine Rebuild
Banshee – Once a year
DS – it a 2001 with better than 250 hours on still runs like new
Oil Changes
Banshee – Quart of oil
DS – 4 quarts or Oil and a $7.00 filter
Maintenance
Valve Lash
Banshee - -------------------------
Ds – Not to bad
Chain adjustment
Banshee – Pain in the a#$ and needs adjustment a lot more often
DS – Very simple
Lubrication
About the same on both Grease etc
Carb adjustment
Banshee – twice the work and twice the money
DS – Doesn’t require no were near the adjustment depending on temperature changes

I agree with that statement. Not all banshees need top end rebuilds every year. I have seen Banshees go several years before the first rebuild and they ran very well the whole time. I have many rides on both the shee and the Ds. But I lean more towards the Ds.

yeh my buddys raced there 2000 stock ds and an 03 shee on gravel the ds had 18 holeshots and the shee had stock tires..... the ds ripped it out of the hole and stayed 3-4 quad lengths ahead i was inpressed with the ds even though i am a big yamaha fan.... after seeing this i would half to say get the ds great all round 4 wheeler plus you dont half to mix the gas but if you intend on doing alot of mods the banshee would be alot of fun being there is so many aftermarket goodies ........ 'note' i am sure if they raced on pavemeant the shee would have won
