Help!!!! Rounded off bolts
#12
You could also use a "cold chizel." My oil drain plug was stuck pretty hard, and I rounded out the threads because some genious decided to make the plug out of aluminum, and then some other genious decided to over tighten the plug...bad combination.
Anyway, first, you tap the chizel toward the center of the bolt (on the side of the head...the part that is stripped off) to make a dent. Something for the chizel to bite into.) Then, you angle the chizel in the direction you want the bolt to turn, but slightly toward the center of the bolt (so it doesn't just slip off the head, or chip off the dent you just made). Tap lightly at first to get the hang of it and get the right angle on the chizel. Then if that doesn't do the trick, start showing it who's boss.
Oh yea, soak the hell out of the nut in WD-40 for a couple hours before trying this.

You can use an easy out........thats usually how I always get some rounded bolts out........I would do the dremel first but if you don't have a dremel then and easy out is real easy to use....just drill a small hole in the center of the bolt...tap in the ez out and then unscrew the bolt out....works everytime!
