No way the LTs are heavy. Stock they are a good 40lbs lighter than your kfx, maybe more.

i'd agree about the yfz being the closest current production machine in both power & feel to the old lt.... a few mods & they really rip.
i had a 91lt250r, i like the 2-stroke zip & do some racing, so i bought the gasgas 300 since it was set up the way i wanted for the most part.... had i known for sure about the yfz before i bought the gasgas, i'd probly be on one of them instead.

I think that the Raptor is what my dad is looking at, but whatever he gets I'm sure he'll get used to it.
