What quad out there compares to a LT250?
This may seem like a weird question, but about 10 years ago my dad had a Suzuki LT250 Quadracer that he still loves. For some crazy reason he sold it and whenever he rides a quad he compares it to the LT250.
What I am wondering is what out there compares in the way it handles, suspension, speed, how it sounds, etc... He really likes Yamaha's Raptor because the body reminds him of the LT250. I know this is kind of a weird question, but any help is appreciated.
Forgot to mention (don't really know if it makes a difference) he mostly rode trails on it. Mainly Jeep Hill and those arears if you're familiar with Gadsden, AL.

About the closest is a honda 250r.
It is difficult to compare two strokes and four strokes. Having owned both I really like my not so stock LT250 for the sand...that adrenaline rush when the power band hits it incredible. BUTTTTT....I prefer my friends kingquad 250 for the woods. It performs better in the woods and handles better and is easier to ride (thats what independent suspension, an auto 4stroke, and selectable lockers do for you...not to great on the sand though).
EDIT: Oh yes, I got to ride a raptor recently...that torque is awesome. Cornering/handling was not anywhere as good as on my LT though.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't think that my dad would really care if it was a 2 or 4 stroke, except for the powerband. I know that 2 strokes you have to keep them reved high to keep from fouling plugs, but what about a 4 stroke?
Take the Raptor for example, could you just ride trails and a slow speed like you could on utes without really screwing anything up. I know that it is designed to be ran wide open, but say if someone wanted to take it through some thick trails. Would it perform good at low speed and low rpms?
(Sorry if this question doesn't make sense, I just stood outside in the sun trimming hedges.)

If you have to keep revving your two stroke to keep from fouling plugs then your pilot jet is way too rich.
As for the raptor. Its a four stroke and they do just fine at lower speeds. Alot of torque and power right off the bottom end. With reverse they would likely be nicer on a slow forest trail. Stay away from the 2001s...tranny problems=lotsa$$.

I've had an LT250 Q racer for 13 years. Kept it all this time because I just like the way it feels, good power, all that stuff.
Now, I have a YFZ I bought a couple of months ago. Can't hardly even make myself get back on the LT anymore, gave it to my kid.
Tell your dad to get a YFZ and he'll never look back.
