For info the 400EX's are being discounted big time to get rid of 04's before Honda announces what they are doing with 400EX for 05. Could be in for a big change or maybe not. I just picked up 04 400EX brand new for $4500 plus tax and license but I do not mind old school technology.
I hated that stupid shoot out... How could you compare a 300ex to a 400ex! ATVaction had a much better shootout IMO.

300ex would be a better fit for you now... but if your planning on growing to above 5'6" then you'd fit on most any quad. 400ex is a better jumper than the warrior but i'd give the trail riding to the warrior because reverse is soooo nice (by the end of the day you don't want to be lifting the front end of a 380lb quad. KFX/DVX/Z would be the best for you. But if price is something to be concerned about then i'd buy the warrior or 300ex. 400ex is a good quad but not as cheap

The reason it may be so cheap might be because it's a 2001 Raptor. The trannys on the 01's were useless. So if it's 01, don't even think about it. Otherwise, it sounds like a great deal. You might be able to buy a 400ex for 3500...I bought mine for 4400 with a big gun exhaust about 2 years ago. wait for the 2005's to come out, and most definitely.

I wouldn't go by Dirtwheels' shootout of the raptor350, 300EX, and 400EX. The guys must of not even set up their preload in the first place if they always spun their wheels off the line. For me and a friend of mine we come exactly even with his modded and piped 408EX. He will have about 2 to 5mph more than me on average dirt fire road top speeds though. On tight trails I usually take the lead.

Im 5'11" 185lbs and fit on my 300ex fine, The size dont bother me at all,and so far real pleased with it. quick, tons of power, and decent speed. only modifications as far as motor or suspension are big gun exhaust and works front shocks
