I thought a raptor had more top speed than a yfz...

Hey yall, after getting my raptor running in tip top condition i raced my buddie jamie on his yfz. It was really close up to 4th gear where he started to pull away. On the very top it was dead even i thought the raptor had a higher top speed. The yfz has a slip on pipe ,rev kit, and the "cam mod" you the exhoust cam goes one tooth forward and what not. Oh can i do this to my SOHC. will it be worth it? Thanks.

In the modern scheme of things, displacement is only meaningfull when comparing engines of identical design. I constantly run into people who say "how can it be fast, it's only a 450".

I know that the yfz has a high tech DOHC 5 valve engine, but i read on this forum from several different people the raptor has a few mph on top. Why not mine?

I haven't rode a YFZ450 but I've heard the engine was pretty much the same design as what was in my YZ426f dirt bike. If so that thing has some power and if it's like the bike it only takes a few mods to really wake it up.
