i am going to be moving to yuma and will be duning year round and my brother is going to need either a 400ex or z400 and it needs to be liquid cooled and i would like to no hp and rpms stock

the Ex is air cooled and the Z is water cooled. the Zruns around 29hp and 9000rpm stock. the Ex has a little less hp but around the same rpm
your crazy to ride the dunes in the summer unless you night ride, way to hot in the middle of the day.
good luck in what you decide to get and becareful riding in the heat

I recommend looking at an yfz or a banshee. The yfz will make you save money in the long run. With a slip on pipe and a set of pattle tires make it a very capable duner. A stock banshee with some paddles is also a good choice. They cost more money but they offer a funner dune experience. Plus you don't have to do as much to their motors to make them race worthy. Thats where it saves you money. The z and ex are both a good choice but with the paddles on you will notice a more strong power loss. When you mod there motors that can cost alot of ca$h to bring them up to speed. Hope i can help.

youve got a good point but hes twelve and im going to be getting a raptor and i dont need my 12 yr brother smoking me even though im a better rider. and i will only be doing one ride or two at most during the summer. We are moving to yuma and will be riding not even a whole day and only on weekends

Well i know how you feel. I am 15 and have a raptor. My 13 year brother just got a 2005 yfz. When he couldn't beat me in a drag race my dad took pity on him. He used the old cam mod and bought him a Dr.D pipe for it. Now there's 2 of them things running aroung my town. And now he can beat me on a quater mile drag strip of gravel. If only by 5 or 6 foot. Yes the z 400 is a fine choice for your brother. I still have mine. There a blast. He'll have lots of fun on that and relibility wise i have had no problems out of mine. There faster than the ex, better performing, equal suspension, more responsive to mods, and there is less of a power loss with a new set of paddles. Go for the Z.
