Currently I am riding a stock '04' trx250ex (honda) My neighbor has a 400ex, but he seized up the engine and is now boring it to a 440, so i am in need of a faster 4-wheeler, i am looking for something used, I ride many 6 foot wide trails and like to drag down my country roads, i am looking to go as fast/faster than a "440ex", what should i go for, i am thinking the older Polaris, but thinking twice becasue I make fun of Polaris. What should I buy ($3200 or around that)

I am 15 yrs old, 5'6" and have 11 years experience

 

You can probably get a 01 raptor with some mods for around $3200, or just a really worked 400ex that will beat his. There's not to many older quads out there that are faster than a 440ex. Maybe a 250r, LT250, or LT500 quadzilla that will do the trick. i dont think you can find a KFX400 or z400 for 3200 yet, well at least in decent shape. YFZ450, 450r are out of the picture [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img]

 

I know where you might be able to find a good z 400. Nothing wrong with the motor. Has a few scratches. New brakes and kenda klaws on all fours. Needs a new chain pretty soon i have an RK (crap).It also has new front wheel bearings and a +1 countershaft sproket. I say we can work something out its an 04'.

 

You could maybe get,like vunit said a used raptor or 400ex,banshee,and if your lucky a z/kfx/dvx.

I know y you can get them so cheap. They are crap. Well Mine is. I an getting custom stickers for the back fenders that say CRAPTOR.

Ive had my Raptor for a while and everything works fine, repect it, maintain it properly and it wont give you any trouble. except the one-way bearing went out, thats the only thing, and i beat the shyt out of mine.. stop giving the raptor a bad rap because you abuse the hell out of your raptor and dont take care of it...


sry, i agree that you could get a good raptor for that price range, i paid $3200 for mine, but im sure you can find some for cheeper. good luck!

There is a used '03 Z400 at Ithaca Recreation Sports for $3600. It's been raced and has some mods. When I was there last week they had just taken it in on trade and hadn't even cleaned it up yet. They said it runs really well. It didn't look too banged up, but you could talk them down I'm sure.
