Sparks or LRD
#1
alright so im looking for a new pipe to put on my 400ex i have a t-4 slip-on its real old and broke in every place possible so im torn between the Sparks X6 full and the Full LRD system. i want to have a lot of bottom end power but i wouldn't mind to add a little top end since well it just doesn't have enough top end my quad is already jetted and i have an aluminum air box and filter which would be the best

we run lrd on both mine and my wifes bike. its a 01 400ex. its a 416 ,hc stg 1 ,sparks cdi ,sparks timing advance , wiesco 11.5:1 piston ,modified carb (no choke for better flow) ,k&n filter. the lrd compliments this engine setup best because it pulls all the way through the rpm range . the sparks exhaust ,at least the x6 is desiegned more for your mid - top end applications. if i were to think about setting her up with a 425 stage 2-3 cam with some porting then i would definetly go with the sparks x6. as a rough guide you can generally look at the diameter and length of an exhaust system to see if it may be something you would want to run with your setup. shorter can =top end, longer can =bottom end. what lrd does is make an exhaust that does it all very well instead of making different exhausts for each application.i can tell you from first hand expierience that these pipes, sparks and lrd both run very good.

so what your saying is the LRD puts out more power then the sparks? My 400 isn't nearly as modded as your wifes would i need to do all of those mods to really wake it up or will i feel the difference?

if you put on any pipe, filter and jets you are going to notice a difference. i heard that the ct racing pipe made the most power for the 400ex,full system ,but the lrd does make 3hp bottom end ,6hp top end 3.5hp average across the board.(full system stage 1)
