I have a post in "Buying an ATV" regarding this quad. Any input on this vs Honda TRX250 vs Suzuki 250Z would be appreciated. Looking for a quad for the wife mainly for the dunes.

Buying new? The sportclutch on the '06 250EX makes it a nice option. It sounds to me like the Mongoose is a decent quad, but a little rough around the edges. Harsh suspension and a cvt tranny that may rob a bit to much power.

i've heard that the mongoose is very underpowered compared to its size, if i were you, i would go with the trx250

I had one to review for a magazine, it was not that bad actually. My 12 year old loved it. The front suspension is pretty nice for that class of quad, although the rear was a little rough but nothing to complain about.

I actually thought it was very spunky for a 250cc with cvt tranny. It has lots of nice features like liquid cooling, flash to pass lights, hydraulic disk all around.

One beef I did have with it is the rear chain seemed to need adjustment too early, it was heavy and over jumps the chain did pop off.

She probably wont be jumping it. but the cvt sucking the power would be a concern in the sand.
