I am the engine tech for a company that is developing a fuel injected, multi-fuel burning, opposed twin 2-stroke motor. It's 400cc and weighs around 46 pounds. It burns straight fuel, diesel, JP5, JP8 or carosine, no premix. It has an oil injection system that takes care of the lubrication. It burns very little oil. It's being developed to replace the motor that is currently being used in the "shadow" unmanned spy plane. The technology is there. There just has to be a demand for it.

the only way 2strokes could ever live on would be with Polaris' CleanFire system. for those that arnt familier with it, it uses 2 injectors per cylinder which burns so finely and cleanly, that its even cleaner than todays 4strokes. the set up can be seen on the Polaris Fusion Sled series. the 600 H.O. twin is making 120 horsepower. thats some serious power from a 2 cyl 2stroke if you ask me.

I'll gladly give up my modern day 450 if they can make a 2-stroke that has a power spread like my 450 and still have descent reliability. Try telling someone 10 years ago that a 250 2-stroke would be considered reliable. lol
