OK think im going to buy a new quad tomorrow and think ive narrowed my choice down to a z400/kfx400 or a

Raptor 700. I am mainly a trail rider and just cant make up my mind on which. I am up for other suggestions but think ive narrowed down to those 2

Both are great trail quads. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I would go with the Yamaha. More power, close on weight and handling. A 400 would actually be a good sized upgrade over the Warrior, but I don't see you tiring of the 700's power anytime soon.

I actually prefer my 400EX for trail riding, and the Z400 for more open country. The EX will lug down in technical sections, and just idle its way through. The Z on the other hand likes to rev, and doesn't like to lug down at low speed.

The Raptors extra horespower would be mostly wasted for trail riding.

Just something to think about, but look at the Polaris Outlaw with the IRS. It looks like a great bike, and from what I have read, it performs great in trails. I'm looking to trade in my Warrior for 1.

LOL Budweiser, based on the link in his sig I think it is a little to late for the Outlaw! Nice upgrade bro, wish I had one of those babies too.

opps!! Guess I should investigate before i do anything.
But still, the Outlaw looks like a great upgrade when ever you think you might need a bigger, better bike.

Hehe ya i decided on the rappy 700

Went on a 2 day ride with 2 friends they have a 400ex and a predator after a weekend of trail riding I am very happy with my choice I love this thing. I might agree with the other poster of the extra power being a waste on trail riding while it may not be needed it sure made it fun lol

Whats its like to have fuel injection. Must be nice not having to "let her warm up".

Buddy sold me his 400ex to get a raptor 660. He jumps better on the raptor since he can get more speed but on the trails it doesn't do any better than the old trusty 400ex.

Info on Outlaw. It does like whoops, jumps, & rough terrain. It has a hard time going slow. I find if you ride in a group of trail riders, they may want to go slow while they work there way through the big rock gardens or steep rocky terrain. While the Outlaw engine wants to shoot through or up & over. The Outlaw is not a machine designed for slow trail work. The 400EX allows for good speed and slow trail work. Certainly the Outlaw has the best ground clearance for a sports quad. Definitely Z400 & KFX400 are fast machines and faster than an Outlaw on a motocross track. Let alone the Suzuki, Yamaha, & Honda 450s & Raptor 700 definitely faster motocross and dune machines.

What kind of sport quad did you choose? And how does it work on trails?
