Not to start trouble either, but I personally own a YFZ 450, and I am 5'9" 250 pounds of fatboy, and I love my bike. I rode the LTR 450, the 700 RAPTOR, and the trx 450, as well as the KFX 450. The YFZ is the best bike out there. I does it all. But I will agree that the all around suspension package goes with the raptor. I jump, drag, race, wheelie, and have no problems at all smoking young skinny guys on what they think are their fast bikes. In the stretch, 5th gear pinned the raptor will beat me. But I can't complain. The honda 450 is a great bike also, and has more clearance for the trails, but just put some armor on, and the yfz will out perform the honda on the trails too. Also consider the raptor is taller, heavier, and have fun keeping the front end down. Hope this helps. Fur</end quote></div>

Good first post... and not to worry...

Those of us (like you and I) that have owned, ridden, rode with, and been around the quads in question can easily tell who else has also just by reading the posts. Most of us will basically post the same thing for the most part with different wording.</end quote></div>

Being a bigger guy you might not like the yfz. Its a small bike, the motor has plenty of power to pull but not very big if youre tall. I think the raptor would be your best choice jus because of your size. Or maybe modify the ergos on a 450...taller bars, dif seat, etc. Hope that's helpful.

if your really into mods why would you start with a 450 and build it up to a 700 , when you can get the 700 raptor and build up from there? , ive had both the yzf 450 and now im on the raptor 700.. as far as speed goes stock they are pretty close, the rappy has a speed sensor in 5th that actually slows it down,
if your gonna do any mods throw the big 3 package on it for 1000. bucks and a cam and piston for 350. and you have a monster that no 450 is gonna touch.
if your not into mods it comes down to 2 things ,1. what kind of ridng you do?if your into mx tracks definately the yzf 450, its lighter and its right at home on the track, if your into trails and hill climbing the raptor is ideal cause you dont have to rev the engine to get anything out of it you can lug it all day in 3rd and hit the throttle, and your moving fast, plus the reverse and fuel injection of the rappy is great to have.
the new rappys arent top heavy at all like the older 660 rappy is, 2 different bikes.and the torque is unreal, they are both well buit machines and you cant go wrong with either one, i loved the yzf but the older(and fatter) i got the less i fit the 450 and moved up to the rptor just for the conveniece of fuel injection and reverse, if you do decide on the rappy look for the se models, the shocks are alot better then the other rappys..
the bike isnt supposed to fit you, your supposed to fit the bike.
