Engine Restore
#1
Hey, I checked into this Restore: Engine Restorer and Lubricant stuff, and its for cars, but on the website it says it works for tractors and 4-stroke engines too just as well, i was just wondering if this applies to quads as well, if anyone knows

Rocker_Ace i have a 19 FL. OZ.can of Engine Restorer & Lubricant with CSL that i was going to try on a 1988' GMC Jimmy 4x4 MPV that had over 300,000 mile's on it , the used car dealer i bought from said it only has about 87,000 on it since it had the engine and drive train rebuilt ! I drove it for about 75 miles when it started to blow out a puff of white/blue smoke from the exhaust when i stopped at a traffic light or stop sign for 30 to 60 seconds ! It would stop smoking once you got going , just when idling ; and take off ! I had to replace the timing chain and gear set after about 75 miles , when it jumped time and i didn't really trust the used car dealer ; because i worked a few years for 2 different dealers one was a crook the other was an honest dealer ! I had to let the Jimmy sit up for over 6 months to save up for the part's to fix it. I had almost a full tank of gas in the Jimmy ; so i put a 16 oz. can of Sea Foam in the tank to keep the gas fresh ! And after i fixed the Jimmy ; i drove it untill i had used a half of a tank of gas and refilled it ! On the way home i had to stop at this traffic light that's takes 3 mintues to change , it just stopped smoking ; and has been smoke free for 4 month's so far ! Carbon built up was guming up the valves and causing the rings to stick , the Seafoam cleaned the combustion chamber and stopped the smoking ; that's all it could've been wrong with it ! But like reconranger said if your quad has the wet sump i wouldn't use it ! It says on the can , not to use on 2 stroke engines or where oil and gas mixtures are required ! I have used this companies Radiator Restore in the cooling system on my 87' Chevy S10 Tahoe Pickup , and it did a good job for the 2.8 Liter V6 EFI engine.

If your rings are a little slack, but not so bad that you want to replace them right now, try running an ester synthetic oil, like Maxima Extra or RedLine Motorcycle Oil.
The esters have monster film strength (HTHS...high temperature/high shear)! This will help to seal your rings, but will only be a temporary fix.
