Polaris has got a hit
#31
Having your own opinion or different views is how our sport got started. people liked bikes but wanted to ride a vehicle made for the sand... then the three wheeler was invented... people found it fun and yet dangerous...then the quad was invented...now irs is the new thing...you know what ? IT IS ALL GOOD!!! I'll let you in on a secret I also own an atc 250r...No it does not handle like a quad but it is exotic. We can all learn from each others opinions and preferences, I enjoy it.

See this is where your wrong. You have so little ride time on a 500 irs, and none on a 525, yet you say with conviction that a IRS sport quad won't go far, and that SRA will never go away. That's not a opinion. Then you say Polaris had to come out with 2 new SRA because of the demand. All they did was up-grade the Pred, and added a 450. The Pred remained basicly unchanged in 5 years, now they upgraded it. If the kept the same name and called it a Pred 525 and 450, you would not be saying it. That's all the Outlaw is, is a upgraded Pred. Just like the Raptor from a 660 to a EFI700. You can't just make the same model every year and expect people to buy. Do I need to show you post about a year ago when people were saying in 08 there were some big suprises. Polaris allready had plans on the SRA quads well before the Outlaw 525irs hit the showrooms in Jan of this year. But I forgot, your dealer friend knows all.</end quote></div>
So again this is where you go wrong..... I never said IRS won't work on a sport machine, I am simply stating that it won't make SRA obsolete. Once again you are twisting this argument to make your point fit your argument.....
And perhaps I should have reworded my statement on Polaris "coming out" with the Outlaw because of demand. I should have said they were "keeping it" because of demand. Is that better? It's semantical either way, the point is the same. And the point is that right now, in time, there is more demand for SRA on a sport machine than there is IRS.
Will that change? Perhaps it will, perhaps it won't....
And again why are you so scared of my opinion? WTF do you care if I don't like IRS? Again you are trying to force your opinion on my, and force me to accept it as truth.... you sound like a friggin religious zealot trying to pimp your personal god to the masses....
You are right...... IRS is superior and will totally eliminate swing arms from the face of the earth ....... I guess I will just have to learn how to ride one and learn how to like it ........ Or I can just save my money and buy the last ever LT-R450 or, TRX450R or YFZ450 or Raptor 700, or whichever one I feel like buying at the time.... and I guess I'll just have to pull over on the trails and let all the IRS machines go by because obviously I will be too slow to keep up with the as soon as the trail gets rough........

Of course, and I agree 100%
If people like IRS more power to them. I prefer the way a SRA machine feels. Perhaps I would get on Doug Eichner's 525 Outlaw and walk away so impressed that my opinion would change on the whole thing....

oh ya and my gto has IRS just like the new vettes. You're right the future is IRS.</end quote></div>
You are correct, and Honda was the 2nd to bring IRS to a sport. Honda just doesn't make a quad out of the blue. They feel that is where it is going, and the Outlaw has shown it is relyable and can be raced and win. The other will be following to just like on the utilities.</end quote></div>
IRS has its place, but it will never replace a SRA quad for MX and most forms of racing......
The fact that Polaris has struggled to find a market for IRS on a sport machine is evident in the release of a SRA 525 Outlaw. If sales were off the charts and IRS was really taking over, Polaris would not have spent the time releasing a 2nd version of an ATV that is supposed to be the future of quads......they would have rode it out for better or for worse....... but they realize that the "future" is a long way off if it ever arrives......</end quote></div>
Why don't you re-read your own post. You say the IRS will never replace for mx and most forms of racing. That's not a opinion, your stating as fact. The irs is 2 years old and you know the future. Then you say Polaris had to make a SRA as there IRS sales are down. Are you now on the Polaris pay role? Your the one shoving your opinion down our throats, but your stateing them as fact and that you know all. For someone with only 30 min of ride time on a Outlaw 500, you seem to think you have all the answers. And that is not twisting anything.

its not that nobody would want the 500...it's just that when the 525 came out every one wanted the 525. Especially the the ones who had the 500's...they were saying things like wow, the 500 is great I could imagine how the lighter 525 must be like. And before you know it the 525 guys will be saying about the nest best quad. That is one of the great things of this sport. It is how advanced it is becoming...we have to always adapt and embrace the changes...I can't wait until one of the quad manufacturer stuffs a real motorcycle engine into a quad...not a project...but a real model...ya know, like a quadracer 1000 or a trx1000r or yfz1000 some thing like that. And I don't care irs or not, polaris, yamaha whatever...just give me a 185hp quad from the factory...Isn't that what we all want!!!

Last month a local dealer was selling brand new leftover 06 500's for $3999</end quote></div>
Hell, it can't be that bad I say... I'd take an '06 leftover 500 for $3,999.
That's a great price worth the gamble or for having around for specific riding.
Too bad my dealer doesn't have any 500's left... sold all of them...
Guys... what was the weight on the 500 and how was the engine?
Any reason not to buy one other than the 525 being out now?
I might need to get in touch with this dealer.....

I was not dissing the Outlaw, I nearly bought one myself 2 years ago.
Was just trying to show how what was the "best quad ever made" when it came out is now yesterday's news----- this is how life goes. A year from now it will be something else.
