what was the fastest sport atv ever built?

I know that this is drag themed and version of fast. I will say that a stock banshee hardly makes any power at all, and neither does the Zilla, infact a stock 88' 250R is faster than both.
Infact I have ridden most of the modern 400-700s including the 450s and can safely say that any one of them (except maybe a 400ex) could hold their own with any decent rider on them
Get a decent exhaust on the 2 strokes and the 4 strokes won't be doing to great.
A stock 2 stroke is terrible unless you have one of those new Maico 685s
I guess I measure fast different from most, hell if I want to go fast I'll go get another XR600 or DRZ400E each of those bikes were heavily modified to be desert savy and comfortable at well over 100 mph all day long (infact the DRZ was so good that I got bored with riding it there was nothing that bike wasn't good at, even raced MX on it)
When I describe a quad as the fastest I mean it can get accross a wide range of terrain (sand dunes, mountian trails, desert and MX)
So my top pick (seeing as I bought one) is the Zilla
and a very very close second is the banshee but fixed up for a very agressive riding style and varied terrain. No drag bikes.
third would be the Raptor 700

I like the banshee's but only good for long smooth straight aways. i personaly went with the kfx700. Just point it where you want to go and hold on. The quad does not care of the terrain even if it is three feet deep water, just hold on. I did some research, it is one of the hardest excellerating quads up to about 50 in stock form. I think the kfx700 is in a class of it's own, I think anyone that has one will agree. You can also get WAY more power out of a v-twin motor than out of a thumper motor, plus they sound way better.

Too bad that it's an automatic and so heavy though. When I first saw the V-force 700 I thought it was the baddest quad I had ever seen, I was hoping to hear that it had a 5 or 6 speed and a weight of around 400 lbs. Alas 472 dry and automatic. I will say that it is the best automatic quad I have ever ridden and a dream to ride on smooth or steep trails.

Actually the dry weight of the kfx700 is 516 and it is a five speed that sacrificed one for reverse. I mainly stay on trails and the reverse helps out alot. When i bought the quad it was stock and I raced alot of quads that had some bolt-ons and in 100 yard drags I never lost. I wanted a quad for the way I ride and the kfx was the best for me(plus I only paid 3 g's for it). I was not sure about the auto tranny, but it is smooth and you never hear or feel it shift, it is always in the sweet spot. I have never driven a quadzilla, although I have heard many great things about them.

quadzilla are fast no doubt. when they are running that is. but on the high dollar side they are not fast like a shee or even a raptor 700 imo. imo the raptor 700 is going to take over as top hill bike. its going to be the 350 chevy small block of quad engines. there is so much out for it now and new stuff just keeps coming and coming. the engine and tranny are top of the line forsure.

Got to agree with that list. As to the six speed question, why not? Those of us that for some reason like to destroy ourselves on high speed whooped out desert trails have reached for that extra gear we don't have when your buddy on his XR650R decides that WFO is the propper ridding technique my Zilla runs at about 80 MPH the big bikes in my group run between 95-112 MPH and will run those speeds in the washes.
My Zilla has never given me problems so it's been very low dollar. That and they are no brainers to work on.

the reason i think you dont need 6 speeds on a four strokes is because u can just re-gear and go as fast as you want. the reason they make 2 strokes 6 speed is because they want them to stay in that power band where a 4 stroke has a very long power band so the gears can be longer.
