what was the fastest sport atv ever built?

I do like the CVT tranny's, they are built very well. I have recently started to play with mine and I do have to say that there are a good amount of mod's to do there. In 100 yard drags the banshee would be about 3rd or 4th place, banshee shines in top end, not off the line with an auto.

Thank You, some people think I have an addiction. I just traded the 2000 banshee for an 87 250r honda.
The tecate is a 3. They did not make a Tecate 4 until 1986. I had an 88 T4 once and sold it. It was the white version (I prefer the green).

I keep telling myself that I'm gonna build a rodeo bike but haven't done it yet. I'm a computer nerd by profession so I need to learn more about fixing these things first lol.

i dont know maybe in a couple hundred foot drag. but ive never been beat by one at olds hill in glamis. and i doubt everything under 700cc. there are stock bore (686cc) raptor 700 making 90hp with no n20 or turbo. i would love to see ANY 400 no madder how big of a bore it has beat it. and there are raptor running like low to mid 4s in the 300 foot drag. i dont know 2 much about 300 foot drag but i dont think a polars 400 can do much better than that. top dog shees are running low 3s.
and btw i dont think ive ever had a 400ex within 10 lenghs of me up olds. and that was one of those super tricked 400s.</end quote></div>
Well, it is what it is, and it's not rocket science.
It's real easy to understand actually....
A stock Polaris 400 pumps out about 40hp out of the box.
That's for starters...
More important than that is it goes from idle to 40hp in a matter of a couple seconds.
That makes it really hard to compete with, regardless of the HP numbers.
It gets there so quick.
Past that, you have the Polaris CVT hooked up to it.
Yes, it could be better or equal if it had a gearbox and excellent pilot.
However, for what it takes, it gives a lot back.
Great traction, perfect gearing continously and seamless shifting.
But further more than that...
If tuned correctly it holds the 2-stroke in the powerband of the pipe continously.
So for all this quad is not (light weight, great handling, etc) it is VERY QUICK.
That I can't take away from it.
As for the Raptor 700... I love the quad except for the handling and feel. It's better than my Sport 400 but in the same neighborhood compared to something like a 400EX. I do however wish often that I had bought that GYTR 700 and worked on the handling. I think I'd be happier on it than my 400EX.
For quickness, the Raptor 700 isn't bad. I ran against some on the YFZ450. They could eventually run me down in distance on top end the way I was set up. But I would not put them in the class of quick the Polaris 400 2-stroke is. It's hard to get there on a 4 stroke... ask any MFG... took them years to get close with the 450's and nearly twice the displacement.
I'd say the Scramblers you have came across and ran against are the 500cc 4-stroke models.
Way less power and way more weight... utility quads pretty much.
200cc less and 200 lbs more than what you're riding.</end quote></div>
The 400 polaris motor is awesome and one you get through the little bit of lowend bog the midrange hits you. What I would like to see is someone take one and get a stage 5 kit from aaen performance with the 440 kit and take that motor and put it in a honda 250r chassis.

I ride a bone stock 04' Predator 500 (TLE). A couple weeks ago I got to riding with a stock Banshee. It was a dog. The Predator easily pulled away at any speed. Last week I went riding with a very modded Banshee. I would get a good jump off the line, but when the Banshee got on the top end it passed me and kept on pulling. I got a chance to take the Banshee for a ride. INSANE on the top end, but was a very rough ride compared to the Predator. Even though The Banshee was a blast to ride I still prefer the Predator. Love the low end grunt of the four strokes!
The owner of the Banshee later told me that her husband rides a Raptor 700. She said that it pulls away from her bike at will!

Sounds like a bad rider or a problem with the banshee. I have seen a couple of different raptors and banshee's go at it and never have I seen a raptor pull away at will nor have I seen a raptor beat a shee. Not every rider is created equal, especially on a manual. I do like the predator, when I was looking for a quad it was on my list, good all around quad.

Did you happen to notice how modded the Shee or the Raptor was. A lot of things could have been a factor in what you witnessed.
Nothing wrong with the Shee. Ran great, well taken care of, and set up for track racing. The rider seemed to know what she(yes I got beat by a girl )was talking about when talking about quads....and she LOVED her Banshee. The information I heard was second hand, but I don't think that she would brag about getting smoked. She is too competitive of a person to brag about losing. Also, don't assume that just because she was a girl, it must have been the rider. This girl can ride the hell out of that thing!! However, she did admit that if my Predator has 1/2 the mods her bike has, I would have left her in the dust.
Truth be told, the bikes are comparable enough that it would probably come down to the rider in a track race or just ripping down a trail. Riders win races, not bikes!! Whether you ride a Honda, Yamaha, ect., ect., the new sport quads are comparable enough that the only time you will lose to the bike and not the rider is in a drag race. I say pick a bike that is comfortable to sit on and has a good suspention. The reason I picked a Predator (TLE) is it rode WAY smother then the Yamaha yzf450 or the Raptor 660 that I test rode. Test ride and pick the one you feel most comfortable on.

u must have not seen a nice raptor race then. i take out 4mm shees all day long with my raptor 700 stock bore. the shees that start to get me are the 10mm+. and my raptor is not that fast. i mean it is no slouch but it is still at stock cc. not like its a 907cc monster. lets put it like this ive never had a shee that could ride to and from the hill that could beat me they are all trailered in.
