Umm not totally sure if you have 2 but i did.just call a trusted nearby dealer and ask if you have to get a timing chain tenchener along with a new timing chain. (just a random question) How many hours do have on it? cuz my friend interested in buying the 400ex but doesnt wanna do any more maintenance than he has 2. if he has 2 put a timing chain in every other year or something like tht he doesnt want one.He also wants to know how yours has held up so far?

Well actually, I just bought this from someone about two months ago. I need to replace the axel bearings already, but thats it. (not a little job though). It looks very clean and very intact, so i dont think it was ridden too hard. That being said, it is a 2003 and this is the first time it needed new axel bearings and might need a new timimng chain sometime soon. So if thats all it needs every five years and you know how to fix it, its not a problem, or a money problem for that matter. 400's are great for anything, i think at least.
