Though a lot will argue because of it's weight, the fact it uses struts and it's an auto I would put the Polaris Sport in that group. With a couple of mods those things will tear your arms off. The Scramblers aren't bad, but with even more weight and 4X4 they more sport than high performance.
As far as the Tecate. I remember looking through all the ATV magazines when I had my 1st quad (TRX125 Honda). I would dream of owning a Tecate. But at age 13/14 I had neither the money to buy it, nor the skill to ride it. I saw one the other day down in the ditch off the road. I think I scared my girlfriend when I was yelling "LOOK,LOOK, LOOK , Those are the coolest"!!!

Honda400EX, Yamaha Banshee, Bombardiar DS650, Gas Gas, Honda 250R, Tecate-4, Quadracer250 and 500, Husaberg 400, 501, 600. I think thats it. By no means is hte Blaster, Warrior, Trail Blazer, Sport(now called Scrambler2x4), Mojave, 250X, and other sport quads considered high-performance quad. We all know that

OOps! You forgot 4! The Kawasaki KXF250, the Kawasaki 400, the all new Quadracer 400, and the Yamaha YZ400F.

Yeah right, but lets just pray that these are new hi-performance quads coming to the public in the future...near future.

WOW..there are alot of "performance" quads out there. The 300ex should be included in this category (at least in modified form). Though not the fastest, quickest quad out there the 300ex with the right mods can really provide its riders with "performance". It can handle, take a jump, hop the whoops, and slide (with the right tires). It's durable, hardly needs the wrench used on it and appeals to a broad spectrum of ATV enthusiasts, beginner to pro.The fact that there is a market out there for performance products and upgrades shows that the industry accepts the 300ex as a performance "capable" machine. It may not be "race-ready" out of the box, but it's definetly a performer.

If you add a modified 300EX, then you also must add a modified Blaster. With the right mods, you can turn a stock Blaster into a pretty decent performer on the track.

You guys crack me up. If your going to include "modified" quads into this catagory then you might as well start a whole new catagory called the "Too fast for you" quad catagory. This would include modified Banshee's, Quadzilla's and "Swaps". Another words bikes that kick out more than 80 HP.

Blasters, 300EX, 250X and all the like are not "hi performance" by any means.

If you want to know if a bike should be considered hi performance look at the motor and suspension (stock). It should have at least 10 inches of travel front and rear (preferably more) and the motor should be 250cc or bigger for a 2 stroke or 400cc or bigger for a 4 stroke. Oh and it should lack the 4x4 button. Anything that has those features should be considered.

this has to be the funniest forum yet. A 300ex hih performance, no.. sorry its not. Yeah sure, take a lt80frame and put a 1100 kawasaki streetbike engine.. there ya got a high performance quad, but wait, its not a lt80 anymore but its one heck of a high performance quad , right? pushin like 150 hp . Also a blaster is not high performance quad. IF you think you have a high performance quad then heres a test for ya, is it a 2 stroke? okay is it a 250 or more, can u hit a jump with out feel like ur going through the seat? or is it a say 400cc 4 stroke (that 2 strokes 2 many, just think take a 400ex its a 4 stroke, now divide each in half youi got 2 blasters, right? 200cc 2 stroke?? blaster right?) okay anyways, a mojave and a blasteer and a 300ex are not high performance quads by anymeans, but hey if anybody wants to take there high performance 300ex against my LT ill give you a 30 second head start in a 2 miles circle track race, just a flat 1/2 mile track, 4 laps, i live in lincoln michigan if anyone wants to. Come on i know im gonna get all you Mojave and 300ex and blaster owners a little riled (spelling) up , but hey i was toastin a banshee this weekend. So i dont know , if you think yo can beat me then im game, i think we should get a race of the lower end of the "high performance" quads like the 300ex, mojave, blaster, cyclone , and any other quads like thoose, maybe the old lt125's?or honda big reds, we should line them up and see whats the best High Performer

well sorry that was so long

Chris Jack

The quadracer must live on!

broke 87 lt250r slightly modded

Well... it's true that the 300ex box-stock is not the high-performance, racer machine according to your definitions. Nobody mentioned that the quad had to be "stock". It can do all the stunts, sliding and jumping just like ALL hi- performance ATVs (just not as well in some cases ). How about if we put all the rebel stars, 400ex, banshees, 250r's, and etc in the HIGH-Performance class and the Mojaves, 250-300ex, warriors, blasters, and such in the Performance class. Since the title of this discussion is "hi- performance" I apologize for freakin' y'all out. Ride hard and rock on.
