z400 vs 400ex

Both great machines,z 400 little more power but both are great. The handling on both machines is superb.Oh no offense but it's kind of considered rude to post in caps.No offense.

The Z just edges the EX out by a little bit all around. Both fun machines and both very reliable. I would get the Z. If you're talking about the newest 09', the Z is awesome.

Both are good all-arounders.....
The EX is the best trail quad of all time! It has an engine that will lug down, so it is great for the really tight/more technical stuff. I can put mine in 1st gear, and idle through a technical section. It is descent on the top end, and the engine has hop-up potential, but it isn't as fast as the Z.
The Z's engine likes to rev more then the EX (but not as much as the 450's), so I like it more for fast open trails and wide open country. It has more top end than the EX, but less low end grunt. I have not ridden an 09 yet, but they got redesigned and should be even nicer than the pre 09's.....

OUCH! Too bad they're not interested in a kawi! They're looking for a comparison between a HONDA 400EX and a SUZUKI Z400.......
BTW reconranger, nice, unbiased opinion (I'm being serious). Had to be tough coming from a loyal honda fan, though! LOL!
I think they are both very comparable atv's in every way. It really boils down to how much you want to spend and which one you feel more comfortable on.

Not at all! If you look at my list of past rides, you will see the Z in there. I loved the quad, but it really didn't have a place in my stable after I got the 450R. Sold it to the brother-in-law, and it is still going strong years later....
My only complaint is that it always would fly nose low off a jump. No matter what I did, even with a lot of throtle to keep the front end up, it didn't really help. The EX on the other hand, flies like a bird!

Yeah, I had an 05 z400 and it didn't fly well either. Very light, quick and nimble, but I could never figure out why it would nose dive. Maybe the balance of weight? It also seemed very short as far as wheel base goes. A very fun atv, though.

I think they are pretty evenly matched. Knowing how reliable Honda's are when I was looking I looked at the 400EX first and almost bought one until I rode my friends KFX400 and for my kind of riding (Trail and strippin pits) the LTZ400 was a nicer ride. I like the extra power and the 10+ inch ground clearance. It has been the best ATV I have ever owned a blast to ride and just as reliable as the Honda.

That is a bold statement I don't think you could back up. I know guys with 400EX's that can pull on a 450.
