Hey Jeaner what did you do to your airbox and what did it cost if you don't mind telling.
Thanks, Mike

I'm sorry i guess not everyone knows my quads history. That statement was a little vague. sorry what i did was install a K&N air filter after i had put a pipe on a few weeks before. with those two mods it was over 70 but not much. prob 71-74 i am not to heavy on the idea of drilling holes into the airbox like some say. I would have to see and ride it before i tried it.( that rhymed ) it wasn't just the air filter although i might be surprised what just an aftermarket filter will do by itself ;AIR IS LIFE

personally i like the get-up-and-go of the two mods rather than top end, that is where i noticed a hell of a difference

I have had the idea about jetting the carb but i have some car mechanic buddies that say on a new engine any combustion mods my be damaging on an engine not yet used to the high rpms yet.

Ford400, if you ride a Polaris, then you are also burning rice because your engine is made in Japan, or at least the parts were!

My y2k polaris expedition 425cc will go 57 miles per hr. Out of the factory, no mods. I did it once and scared the hell out of me. With the 5 speed, I can speed up fast when needed. Its all the machine I need. The biggest change I see, is that polaris is now putting good material in there machines and they look nice now. I suspect that the other brands will do the same when they see what the new ones look like. Hell, there all good.

what is the deal with everyone saying a stock 400EX will only do 61-65. mine must be a factory mistake or something becouse that 00' will run 80mph on pavment and it is all stock. all i got to say is bring it on banshees. got a sleeper honda waiting on you.

I had a 400 sport polaris with pipe ,high compression head, reeds ,wiseco piston and clutch mods . It will hit 72-73 mph on a hard pack road according to my friends xr650l's speedo. but it will get 50 in a hurry ,it takes about mile to hit 70 !!!!. I just bought a 00 400ex once I let the motor break in I'll peg the rev limiter for a top speed. I have had it up to 60 and theres more left...
