Worth it to upgrade from 300ex to 400ex?

I agree with Sickman. Its like comparing a Jetta to a Camaro. You can make a Jetta faster than a Camaro, but the Camaro can be made faster and perform much better

Sickman,

That is an impressive list of things that you broke. Can anyone top that?!

Well, I posted this list elsewhere a while back, but here it goes:

Bike '99 400EX, first 3 months (private track) none of these happend during an accident (too much time off the ground):

Separated carb to aircleaner boot several times due to flexing from big jumps.
Flattened more wheels than I care to count
Many bent tie rods
Smashed stock handlebars
Smashed upper control arm
Blown front shock
Stripped and ripped out rear subframe bolts
Broken cast aluminum swingarm
Broken rear mastercylinder(don't know why)
Cracked sideplate (throwing rocks into it at track)
Slight bend in rear axle (can't believe how strong the stock axle is)

I know I am forgetting some stuff, but Honda did warranty most all of it.

Gabe, you do realize that all of those things that happened to your quad is a result of you, right? When Matt "The Kangaroo Kid" Coulter jumped, he didn't have a stock machine like you! He had rear shocks in the front to handle all the downforce, and many other things. Trying to beat him?

Absolutely.

The machine I was talking about actually wasn't mine, although I probably contributed.

It is a close friend's, all this happened 1 1/2 years ago when the 400 first came out. He bought it, and we started the punishment, it just jumps so well from the factory we had a hard time holding ourselves back.

I actually haven't broken anything on mine yet, I have bent a few things, but nothing broken yet (I don't weigh as much as Aaron).

I've ridden and race both the 300ex and a 400ex. I was more impressed with the 400ex. But then again, I'm a little heavy at 225. My friend and racing buddy, Chris, bought his 400ex for $7200 new. But it came from the showroom with a lonestar +4 axle, performance shocks (I don't remember what brand), k&n kit, and pipe (don't remember what brand either). It absolutely screams.

You should be able to walk in to the dealer and pay around 5,299 for it depending on the demand in your area...
If on the other hand, you are trading in you will pay full retail on it...

P.S. I had my 300EX for 2 months and trade it in for the 400EX, well worth it.(both 2000's)
