Second Guessing the digression....

First, Which is better for a sport quad is a matter of personal preference! I like my electric start and is one of the prime reasons that I bought the 300EX. I also own a 250X.

All I noticed in TF's statement was that he, very acuratly, mentioned what would be generally prefered in, (specific catagory), "an all-out sport or competition quad".
However in real life many people use sport quads for many other purposes that would not fall into the catagory of machines that TF mentioned. If I were hell bent on winning even non races or actual races I would share his opnion. But I'm an old guy that has had it with kick starting machines! You youngsters can have em! I'll compensate with cc's and riding ability! :-)

I would like electric start on my LT500R. Its just too much work to kick start a 500cc 2 stroke.

Whats wrong with kick start? On a blaster that rides trails/woods kick start is great. Please I don't care for your mean comments back to me. Thanks

I don't know about you boyz but my quad is going to have an electric start on the racetrack. Saving 10 lbs. is really no big deal to me cuz i am a lightweight rider anyway.

I would have to agree with dominator, I would love to have an electric start on my zilla. The ideal setup is an electric start with either a backup kick starter or a backup recoil to start the motor if the battery fails. I have had to tow start my friends warriors a few times to get them going when the battery fails. There are a few add on recoil starters you can get if your bike didn't come with one and i recommed buying one, it is far better then pushing your scoot home.

If anyone knows of a company who might make an elec start for the zilla please let me know.

speaking of electric start. I just bought a 1982 Big red (3-wheeler) Does anyone know why is makes a plonk noise when I first hit the start button. I works but the noise I think is unusually loud. Should I worry or just ride it? Thanks for any help

RangerSX! Believe me, I had no idea associating your username with the question you asked, "why would you want kick when you could have electric?" would offend you!

I assure you, no offense intended, RangerSX!

As to my answer, I prefaced it with the words, "I think . . ."

Now, RangerSX, my answer was true; not necessarily in its content, but I truthfully stated what I think! I could be in error; I merely answered your question to the best of my ability and as truthfully as I can.

RangerSX, did I overlook any previous instructions from you that you didn't want your name associated with your questions? Or did I miss your orders that the questions you pose on the Forum were not to be answered? If so, I can only express my regrets; I've never been a careful reader!

TF- dont even worry about it, I was putting on a show to prove a point. the point is that many ppl(including experienced ppl) can be touchy on any subject. Some ppl think their quads are the ****, some think they will outrun and out do another. and yet everyone rips on you when you say the littlest things like, please leave my name out of it. did you see how many ppl came back and said "what are you talking about, he wasnt slamming you!!!!!..........." then go into their own little speil about something i have said. it was nice to hear you apologize even though it was not needed. I probably didnt prove my point, but that is the price you pay for not listening in composition.
