I was riding a Warrior before you were born, and it was absolutely the worst quad I ever owned! The quality is fine and the engine is bulletproof, but Yamaha just didn't have its design act together on this one and the frame, handling, rear suspension, and ergonomics are just not very good at all!

I also owned a 300EX, and it is a way better machine than the Warrior ever hoped to be, but a 6' rider may feel cramped on one.

You should be able to find a descent 400EX for $2K....

They didn't change much over the years. Even the new Raptor 350 is just a warmed over Warrior.

A wise man will learn from others mistakes!!!

I spent a lot of time on a 2000 Warrior and it handled like a 2-ton turd.

Loved my 300EX...handled really well, great brakes, but down on POWER in a major way.

Buy a clean used 400EX if you can manage it at all...you won't immediately outgrow it like you will the 300EX

For 2K you can get into a 400EX, at your size I wouldn't settle for less.

For 2K, it's going to be hard to find a used 400EX that hasn't been modified and/or raced. Be careful of one that has been beat.

Well, I am not going to bang on the 300EX and Warrior.

Both are proven quads from the test of time.
Since what honestly?.... 1987?

I know the EX is practically the same as my old 87 250X.

I had the 250X and a 300EX and a Warrior 350 that I took to the point of "built to the gills" because I refused to buy a 400EX at the time.

The Warrior is roomier, is faster in a straight line, has a 6 speed trans, and the reverse is easier than the older 300EX's.

The 300EX has the warrior in certain aspects of handling and it seems easier to toss around.... and they made these REALLY NICE when they finally did a plastic change.

Great choice for tight technical woods... maybe even the BEST choice.

Both are super reliable and tough as nails.

The 400's like the 400EX and Z400 are a bit nicer though. More power, more room, more aftermarket support.... and more power. But I would suggest '05 or newer on the 400EX for the reverse.

Be patient and look around. The economy is not great. You'll likely find a 400cc in your price range that is in good shape... and if you don't, you'll save the extra while looking.
