I've been looking for a long time and finally have some $$$ to buy one. (But not enough to buy a Raptor or a EX). I really like two stroke power as I will be riding mainly in dunes and open trails. I've narrowed it down to a Honda 250R, 88-92 Suzuki LT250R, and a Kawasaki Tecate 4. I would appreciate if someone can tell me what they like/dislike about any of the models and what to look for/watch out for when buying one. Thanks!!!

the kawasaki tecate is awesome lookin (the coolest of the three i think) and also the fastest but aftermarket parts are limited and i hear it is tippy feeling because of its narrow stance. the 250r is probably the one you should get. its cool lookin great handling great speed and it has the most aftermarket parts availible. the LT is cool too. i like mine a lot. its faster than a 400EX but not as good handling. it handles good in the air but doesn't get as high as a 400EX as easy. it handles just fine but the aftermarket is slighlty limited.

I had an 87 LT250. If you do dune riding do not get one. The crush washers on the rod will break if under an extreme load. I mean I was making tracks in the sand and racing w/ my friends and that damn thing kept breaking in half. Three bores later, gobs of time, it had to go. They're fine for hardpacked, just not if you ride at 110% in sand. My Honda's were more reliable. I'm not bashing, just my experience.
