2003 Honda TRX400EX Running Rough
New to the forums here and seeking some advice on a new (to me) quad I got. Recently picked up a 2003 TRX400EX for a whopping $500. The frame and suspension on the bike are in immaculate condition but as we all know sometimes that does't matter when it's not running top notch. So the bike sat in a garage for 2 years total until I obtained it last weekend. It ran decent at the guys house but seemed like it didn't want to idel or rev high with the choke on/off. I transported it back to my house and thats when everything went downhill. Got it out of the truck and it wouldn't start (almost as it was getting no fuel). I then took off the carb and opened it to find out that it was still dirty as all heck and then thoroughly cleaned it myself (or I least i think i did). I also flushed the tank as it was full of gunk and what looked like to be dirt. After reassembly the quad ran but not well... It will not idle on its own and I have to feather it to keep it running but it is drivable and as long as the revs aren't too low or too high you can ride it all day. If you are driving and let off the throttle or if you are revving it and you let off the throttle it will backfire a little and then die out unless your hit the throttle again. The choke also has to be on full in order to operate it at lower RPM's and when you want to go higher you have to turn the choke off but it still won't idle. I am a little bit lost as of now and am looking for some guidance in resolving the issue. Any help is much appreciated.

Yeah. That what I was thinking would be needed soon. Will be rebuilding either next week or the week after when I have a chance. I did completely flush the tank out and clean the petcock since they were covered in debris. Didn't really change much but now comes the rebuild. Will post results if it fixes anything or not.
