Sport quad?

If you do allot of snow or mud type ridding, an automatic may be the way to go due to smooth shifts and constant power, but the reason you see manual clutches on sport and race quads is due to the terrain they are ridden on. Mike mentioned how he likes the automatics for hills due to always being in the right gear, which for some that may be what they want. But I on the other hand don't want it to hook up too much, thus standing up and proceeding to roll down the side of the mountain (My 2-stroke climbs the super steep hills much better than the 4-strokes I used to ride for that exact reason). Also, if a person races, there are areas like whoop sections where you are in 3rd or 4th pinned in order to keep the front-end light. An automatic would shift up in this situation, thus dropping the front-end, and proceeding to pitch you over the bars. If you ever saw Darrel Raths Polaris powered racer, that's the problem he had with it... Also I've raced against automatics, and they are slower in the corners compared to manuals because instead of being able to slide when needed to turn tighter corners faster or dive under somebody, they just hook-up and rail the corners which is faster in some places, but not many usually.
As other's said its your style of riding and how aggressive you are that determine what you prefer. Personally I wouldn't like it, because it would hold me back, but thats not to say other's like it though, it doesn't really matter to me, I use what works best for what I do.
