400ex vs. warrior
#12
my next door neighboor has a warrior, and it does nothing good. i thought it was cool for about .2 seconds till i realized that it cant do wheelies, or jump. it has terrible breaks, and its really heavy, and the electric starter went on it, and it just sucks. so go with the 400ex.

Pauleo21, New 400EXs bring from 4699.00 to 4999.00 around here and the going price for a used one is from 2500.00 to 3600.00. if your paying more for one your just plain stupid. The one he bought had a cut in the seat and needs tires. It was in the Springfield paper for 3300.00 for 3 weeks and didn't sell. I can buy new Z400s for 5099.00 and new Raptors for 5699.00 why would I pay over 4000.00 for an outdated used machine?

My Buddy has a Warrior and I have an EX (and a Banshee).
I suppose it depends on the type of riding you are doing. If you are into playing, and wheelies, and MX, etc. the EX is deffinatly for you. It's got gobs of power throughout the RPM range (compared to a Warrior that is) and it makes wheelies simple.
Personally, if I only rode trails I would have a hard time picking between the two. In fact, I probably wouldn't pick either one. Trails around here are pretty tough...mud, rocks, trees, etc. In my opinion the Warrior is better strictly for the trails just because it has a longer wheelbase and combined with a little bit less power makes it great for climbing up obstacles. Reverse is a plus too, but not a big deal for me.
So judging by what you list as riding types....
Track - Deffinatly 400ex, the suspension is so much better than the Warrior it's not even funny. The EX is also shorter and wider, and with that geometry it makes it handle awesome. I'm not exagerating because I have one...those same words came out of my buddies mouth and he owns a Warrior.
Woods - I would have a hard time picking between the two. It depends on the terrain. I would say Warrior, but more than likely you won't JUST be riding in the woods, and it would be hard to give up the 400ex just for that. Personally I like my Banshee in the woods better than the Warrior or the EX.
Hills - I would have to say Warrior just because it can keep the front planted better. It's longer and less powerful...I would also guess that the front is heavier (though I don't know). The EX will come up very easily and I have already gone over going up a hill. That made me be more careful, and I haven't had a problem since. I'd still have to give the advantage to the Warrior though.
Dunes - I have never ridden in the dunes, so I can't give my opinion.
6' and 220lbs - A friend of mine that is close to your dimensions (probably 15lbs. lighter) has been driving my EX and he doesn't complain about it at all. The bike deffinatly feels small, BUT as far as seating position, I think it feels as roomie as the Warrior. However, I only weigh about 150lbs.
One final note. I just purchased my EX a few months ago. Since then my buddy with the Warrior has been whining that he wants the new Suzuki. He was very impressed with the EX and after he drove it he actually had about 3 weeks where he didn't even touch his Warrior. I'm not trying to praise the EX...just telling you what happend.
Good luck with whatever you chose.

It seems kind of odd that you would see a person asking wether to buy a 400EX or a Warrior
The bikes are, in most cases, put in totally different classes. A 400EX is a Hi-Performance and a warrior is a Sport
If these are the machines you are choosing between the 400EX is an easy winner.
(If a 300EX is better than a Warrior than a 400 most definitely is)

How do you figure this?
a Z450kit would add more hp then a 440ex kit it depends on what kind tho and what all mods you get so there is other varibles
also the Z engine is liquid cooled and newer technology
