400ex vs. warrior
#41
I have a 2001 warrior that has the mods done to it and I am working raptors. For the same price as a Raptor I can build a big bore for it. And as it is I have no problems keeping up with 400ex. you can get a used one for aroud $3000, put a pipe and jet kit, prodesign Air intake, high compression piston, Keihin carb, and anything else you can think of and still only be in it under $5000, which is still less than a raptor or 400ex. FYI they can ride wheelies and do stopies, they do great in the dunes and un the mud (with the right tires).

Not flaming here, just stating my .02 cents..
But with just shocks you will have no where near the suspension that a 400ex has! I have a 250X with ext a-arms and works shocks and I dont even come close... I feel that Warriors are more of a sport utility quad rather than a true sprot quad or high performance quad. No offense. The suspension and weight just cant compare with the others. Plus with 350cc I feel they should have a little more power, but I the feel more like a 250x range power....(stock wise)

That is what I am saying, for the same amount that you would spend on a new 400ex you can build a warrior that will far surpass the performance of a 400ex. And it will still cost you less in the long run. I know, I have one. I have no problems racing with the "Big Boys", raptoprs, 400ex, and cannondales, If you put a couple grand into a warrior you will still be in it less than a new 400ex. You can build a 420cc stoker for it, change the sprockets, extend the rear axle and swing arm, and replace the a-arms with +2 or +4's for just a couple grand. Which if the bike was used, is a whole lot less than a 400ex with all the mods.

Ive got about 800 dollars in my engine and we will soon see but im pretty sure I can toast a 400ex and if not beat a z400 hang right there with it. So including engine work how much have I spent total on my warrior? 2100 including inital purchase. No 300ex is going to beat me unless it has a 395 kit and is very" tweaked"

There is usually less than 800.00 difference between a used Warrior and a used 400ex in my area. You would have to do major engine work to run with a stock 400ex and it will also take around 1000.00 in shocks and probably extended A-arms for another 700.00 to even get the handling comparable to a stock 400ex. And it is still going to weigh more than the 400ex. Not to mention the mods available for the 400. I watch Warriors compete every other weekend at the track where my son is racing and it takes a lot more than a piston, cam, and pipe for a Warrior to outrun a 400EX. Why spend 5000.00 on a Warrior when you can buy a used 400EX for 3200.00 to 3600.00 and have more quad right from the get go. And then spend money on modding the 400ex out.
