Mojave or 300ex????

Yes, Mojave is 379 lbs dry....basically a few lbs more than the 300ex but very close. Official numbers on paper for the 300ex and Mojave are 25 crank and 17 rwhp....supposedly the same. However stock gearing on the Mojave is one tooth lower on the front (12 vs 13), but it makes up for it when its twin cam engine at 11:1 compression revs to 11,000 rpm....vs the 300ex which has 9.3:1 compression and revs to 9,300 rpm....I have a CatsEye speedo on my Mojave, as well as clocked it with a GPS and I can get a consistent 59 mph at WOT with DynoJet kit, K&N and stock gearing. Most 300's are only good for 52-55. The 13 tooth sprocket on the Mojave drops your top end because it doesn't have enough power to pull it. Reverse is 100x easier to operate on the Mojave but 300ex has electric start. My 2002 Mojave 250 (for sale) runs mint and can beat all stock and some modified 300ex's....Bang for your buck...no-one can deny that the Mojave is about $500 to $1000 cheaper for the same year and mods vs a 300. The suspension and frame haven't changed since they were designed in 1987...but they're just as reliable as a Honda, and handle like lightning in the woods. I'm 5'9" and 170 and it feels slightly small for me now that I'm used to it and have ridden a 400ex...but for anyone lighter, who does lots of woods riding, the Mojave is a great value.

ya ok let me get this straight. the kawasaki is like what 2-3 mph faster than the 300EX. now you would give up, better suspension, better excell, better light, better qualtity, and an all around better bike for 3 mph difference? dont add up to me. anyways heres a website that gives you opinions about products from real people that have them and they dont have to make it sound better and they dont have the EGO thing going on. www.epinions.com is the site. hope this helps and remember---

listen heres my opinion as i own a mojave and have riden and raced both bikes. they are both very good machines. in my opinion they are very close in power and speed all the way through the powerband. myself i have had my mojave crack the rear swingarm, it sucked the valves twice, i put 2 complete brand new heads on it, and most currently i just put on a new timing chain and chain guides. but it does hold up surprisingly well considering how hard i beat that thing. this is not a common problem on the mojave it is just from going for 8 miles on a road slapping against the rev limiter in 5th gear trying to catch 400exs and z400s lol. but i have friends who have had many problems with their 300ex's also. so heres how i rate it high speed stability-300ex, tight woods handling-mojave, top speed-300ex, modibility-with internal engine parts the mojave will kick as*. so it is really personal preference.

I don't know what you had done to that Timberwolf, but the most I've ever heard of them going is about 45 or 47. I had a Beatracker and that's all it would get up to. I have said this many times, if you are looking for a sport quad in this category, and you want the one with the most power, electric start AND very easy reverse, look at the Warrior. Where I live you can find a Warrior for the same price as a Mojave or 300EX if you look for them used. Just another $0.02

i would take the mojave just because it is more reliable ask these guys that own 300 exs howmany times they replaced axle bearings or how many times they where stuck in a steep valley because the battery took a dump on them and they didnt have a kicker or enough room to roll strart it i have a 300 ex and a mojave the mojave is just as strong and maybe a lil faster ill explain why.... the mojave has an bigger grind on the cam it has a higher compression ratio and is a lil lighter. the mojave does have just a lil bit shorter wheel base but it handles wooded trails way better than the 300 altough the 300 does handle hillclimbs a lil better due to the longer wheel base it really depends on the terrain your gonna be riding here in kentucky where it is real rocky and hot humid days id take the mojave because of the liquid cooling and the tuff axle bearing housing anyone who rides this terrain in eastern ky knows its fairly easy to tear up a set of axle bearings riding in the moutains over a weekend 300 exs would be awsome if they where liquid cooled and had a better design on the axle bearing housings look at the 400 ex its axle bearing housing is totally diffrent and it holds up much better...

my 300ex axle bearing never gave out on me.honda is the most reliable quad ever built. i havent had a prob and i ride it like hell. a 300ex is lighter, handles a little better, and can take through trails like noones buisness. in a curvy trail, not tight, i out ran a vforce 700. im not dissing the mojave, just correcting the uncorrect.BTW, i have NEVER heard anything about a battery "taking a dump on them" , besides it would be the battery that took a dump. and what are the odds of a 300ex quitting, battery "taking a dump", and being in a valley all at the same time? the odds are astronomical(cant spell).
